Ensure Compact is a low volume, high energy 125ml ready to drink, milkshake style nutritional supplement for the dietary management of patients with, or at risk of developing, disease-related malnutrition. Each serving contains 300kcal, 12.8g protein and 28 vitamins and minerals. Its small volume has been specially developed for people who have difficulty drinking larger volumes or who have a poor appetite. Food for Special Medical Purposes, for use under medical supervision. Suitable as a nutritional supplement or sole source of nutrition for patients who cannot or will not eat sufficient quantities of everyday food and drink to meet their nutritional needs (excluding fluid requirements). Nutritionally complete for vitamins and minerals in 625 ml, excluding sodium, potassium, chloride and magnesium. Note: nutritionally complete volumes are calculated using the UK Reference Nutrient Intake for men aged 19-50 years.

We ran out of Ensure compact from the hospital discharge and were glad to get more for my mum. Good nutrition while she had little appetite and difficulty swallowing. Two small tips for anyone in a similar situation - Mum has found that swallowing her daily medications is easier with Ensure than with water, and while she never finishes it all straight from the bottle (possibly because of not being able to tip her head back enough), she finishes it from a small glass.Overall, a good support when struggling to eat or drink.

It can add up quickly when needing 3 or 4 per day.Packaging has improved but there's always an unnecessary outer box, usually made from odd-sized pieces of cardboard, taped together and falling apart.Why do you pass your recycling on to customers?Tip: the inner original box makes a good temporary litter tray!!It's not far to look and find these 20% cheaper, thankfully.The 6% discount is something but it's not hard ti find
