I love a good King Prawn Patia from my local curry house but it always comes with a layer of oil floating on top which I'm not so keen on. So I thought I would try this mix and I was pleasantly surprised. I used low fat cooking spray instead of oil and brown granulated sweetener (Sukrin) instead of sugar, but otherwise followed the recipe to the letter. The heat was just about right but it didn't have that tang you get with a restaurant or take-away Patia, namely the 'sweet and sour' element. It was nice and thick, not at all watery, but I think next time I make it I'll double the quantity of white vinegar to achieve the 'sour' taste. I've already ordered more sachets. Oh, and a little word of warning, the recipe ingredients do not line up with the quantities because the first line is so long - so the quantity for each ingredient is the one on the next line down!

When I made it I have to say it tasted like tomato puree that was in the recipe. But the next day it was great. I will be buying it again. I do fancy making another one very soon might make it today now it is in my mind. I have one left which I might make today as I have lots of chicken breast in the fridge and all the remaining ingredient's to make another one. I make batches of at least four servings and freeze what I do not use for a later date.

I bought this to try a pathia as i am a new curry maker, so thought it easy to use. It was. Makes a nice curry to sample to see if you like it. Easy to use.

My usual place i get my curry spices from has gone down at the min, so thought id look elsewhere and give it ago! I cant really base my review on what i am used to…When cooking it fills the whole house with this authentic spice and its lovely! I would highly recommend.
