About this item:
The Pet Food Intolerance Test covers proteins, grains, vegetables, fruits, fats, seafood, additives and preservatives. Of the 250+ items tested, the results will show only the items your pet registered an intolerance to. The intolerances are listed into 3 levels based on the response upon exposure. Utilizing the items that register a Level 3 response will create the recommended 6-8 week elimination guideline. Please try to not feed your pet any food items that were not tested for during the elimination period. You will not know how they will respond to these items. Level 2 items may be affecting the body and causing noticeable symptoms. Level 1 items are just beginning to affect the body on a cellular level. These Level 2 & Level 1 items should be consumed no more than 2-3 times per week. Once you know what food items may be causing your pet’s discomforts or intolerance symptoms (upset stomach, constant scratching, hair loss, paw biting, hot spots), you will be able to eliminate them from their diet and see if the symptoms lessen or disappear. After the 6-8 week period, you can then re-introduce an item one at a time in small quantities and see if the symptoms return. In order for you to see any results, this test requires 100% interaction. It is not always just a change from one protein source to another and switching out to a different bag of kibble. Sometimes it means that you must stop feeding your pet processed pet food/kibble and start cooking for them or feeding raw. This test is not about a quick fix that will mask the issues and give temporary relief. It is about getting to the root cause of what is creating the unwanted symptoms and fixing this issue. For the past few months I’ve been blindly trying to figure out the best things to feed my dog to improver her hot spots since the vet said it could come from food and/or environmental allergies. Well after taking this test I realized I never had to take chicken out of her diet instead there are other things that were in the red for her that are present in her current dry foods. I will be discontinuing the use of those and from now on reading the ingredients up against the results given here and see if that helps with her itching and biting before trying the shots the vet recommended because I think if she stops the things her body can’t handle she’ll be just fine.

I ordered this test after being disappointed in one from another company.I was extremely pleased with the quick turnaround in getting my test results, I was concerned there would be a delay as I was sending from Canada to the States, but it was much quicker than I anticipated.Collecting the hair sample was easy and painless for my dog which I appreciated. We have been dealing with skin issues for a while now and assumed it was food intolerances. It was.Reading and understanding the results was simple and I love having a printed copy I can reference when I cook my dog's food.The only thing is that I wish it tested for more fruits. I made a quick call to 5 Strands and spoke to a lovely woman there named Lauren and found out that there is a fruit & veggie add on. It was quick and super simple to add this on as 5 Strands keeps the hair sample for 30 days, so I did not have to send another sample in which was nice!I highly recommend this product and love that if assistance is required it is only a phone call or email away.We have started my dog's elimination diet and couldn't be more pleased.
Easy to use
I ordered this test as my dog Bubba has had a very sensitive tummy for a while now. I had some guesses as to what might be the triggers, but wasn’t sure. The test was so easy to do! Just a hair sample, drop it in the mail, and I had results in less than a week! It was so fast! There’s an app so I can access his results anytime! I was right on some things and surprised by others. I am already making changes to his diet! We highly recommend if your pet has yummy issues!

Wow! We were so thrilled to receive my dogs test results…7 pages (2 columns each) of allergens tested!! We’re beyond happy with the level of testing provided, quick response from customer service when needed, and only had to wait about 2-3 weeks in total from the day we placed the order to the day results arrived. Now we can relax and slowly change our dogs diet without having to wonder about this that or the other. Amazing! Thank you!
Saved us $750
Our newest pup was constantly chewing his feet, vet suggested “testing” which was $750 … no thank you. Tried this, came back with a LOT of “red” flagged items, most of which we don’t feed him, but we limited his diet based on the results and doggo has all the hair growing back on his little paws! Turned out to be beef fat and chicken as the culprit in case anyone wants to try removing those. Our other dog couldn’t have any fish oils so that was already not included in either pups diet.
