5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and works well....
Use for moving a mobile sawmill around which is 1100kgs. Up low inclines (prob 7degrees as in the spec).Doesn't work on loose or slippery ground, but didn't expect it to, so use plyboard to cover those spots which works fine. Slow and steady. No idea if the fitting is standard, but didn't fit the same jockey wheel clamp holes that are on the knott trailer bar, so mounted this in addition to the existing jockey wheel. Is a ribbed shaft on the jockey wheel - which is good, non-slip.Battery terminals are flat washer types so pretty useless for any UK car batteries. I cut those off and fixed detachtable terminal clips (from Halfords £7) which work a treat.
4.0 out of 5 stars Think carefully about the fixing if you are going to use it on a standard trailer.
I bought one of these about 2 years ago and I am going to call it the Mark1 for clarity. It had a central cylindrical ribbed rod which fitted into the standard 48mm clamp. It worked very well to move it around in the driveway. I sold that boat with the mover but ended up buying a different 17 ft yacht on a new trailer. I had been impressed with the old mover so when I came to buy another mover I was surprised to see the fixing on the main advert was now a plate the advert but which still showed pictures and details of the 'Mark 1' fixing. Very confusing. Went ahead and purchased but nearly returned it. Trying to avoid damaging the packaging I obtained the instruction document on line. and there was a throwaway line was reference to optional mounting bars. This needs to be made clear in the Bolo information. Also the mounting bars have different hole centres from the main plate, so various draw bar depths can be catered for. But no information as to what they are. Most potential buyers with trailers are unlikely to want to drill into the bar so the so called optional fixing is in fact crucial. Luckily I had some extra spacers but Bolo and the seller really need to get this information up front as at present it is very confusing with photo references to the 'Mark1' and 'Mark2' fixings being mixed up. As for the mover, it is great. Moves nearly 1 tonne of boat and trailer up a 2-degree normal draining driveway. The mix of forward and reverse and tiller movement works for most movements, but if, like mine, the tiller arm is back from the winch, etc, it can catch. Easily dealt with by pushing in the tiller and allowing it to rotate below the level of the trailer (see photos). (spacers are my addition). So very good product which works very well for me, but a terrible lack of information on the advert about the fixing. It looks like the new fixing method was in fact in response to comments about the old fixing but this is not at all clear.
1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible
I’ve been asked to redo the poor review I submitted after they stuffed me on the refund of £100.00 but I am expected to roll over and tell everyone how amazing the service has been the product has been etc etc… so here I go . Bought this and had fitted , started the motor to move the trailer watched it crawl , it crawled slower than a snail being chased by a large tub of slat and a hammer so purity fast …NOT .. slow is understatement, to add to this entertainment we what he’d it bend then bend more and more until we stopped,it was at the point of breaking as it dragged sorry butt along,, then we looked at each other and pulled the trailer one handed it flew up the flat street into the bay , so I guess the review is simple .It’s pants don’t buy , well unless you want to lose the plot on the time takes to move or the bending that may break smack you in the face , or happy to take a £100.00 and lose it . So yea I think I’ve re reviewed my reviewIt still pants
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent bit of kit.
I have seen bad reviews about this product, but in my opinion it is excellent for moving our caravan. The caravan is only a two berth, but is parked up a bit of a hill and in a narrow space. I would never get it parked without this jockey wheel. To me it is as good as it is made out to be. Well worth the money and far cheaper than a motor mover.
2.0 out of 5 stars Well built, but doesn't work properly.
This item is well made and robust. I have used it twice for a twenty metre trip and it worked very well. On my third attempt of using it it now only goes in one direction. THE WRONG direction, I need it to go backwards to carry out a very tricky reverse. But it now only goes forwards. Not impressedI reported this to the supplier, I was asked for the Bolo Order Number (proof of purchase) and the details of the fault.I emailed Bolo PO Number and a details of the fault, a very swift response told me that all the symptoms pointed to a replacement gearbox. It had covered no more thaNn FORTY METRES before the fault occurred.I replied asking for the availability of a new gearbox, do they have them in stock. No response, it's all gone quiet over there.Despite it having the appearance of being well made, robust etc LEAVE IT WELL ALONE.
3.0 out of 5 stars Its not as practical as I'd hoped.
I bought the motor mover to enable me to get my caravan in and out of my garage. It is a cheaper option than having a bonafied mover fitted. The instructions state that it can be mounted using the existing jockey wheel mount, so thats what i used initially. After fitting, I realised that the bar wouldn't clear the end of the A frame, which in turn reduces maneuvering, and defeats the the objective.Maybe a removable extension could be part of the kit.Once I'd adapted the bar, by extending it to clear the A frame, connected it to the existing jockey wheel mount, it did a great job in maneuvering the caravan. My caravan is a Trigano Rubis 310, so the motor mover had no problem shifting it.Additional weight may need to placed on the wheel to prevent slip. Now, I assumed, that I would be able to tow the caravan with the mover in place.I can't because the ground clearance, or lack of it, is a major concern. So it has to be removed, before towing.I've now fitted the mover with the supplied mount because the original mount is still required. Its not as practical as I'd hope.
