Following some light sanding because what else is there to do as a middle aged man fighting the mid life crisis, I thought I should get some masks really and plumped for these branded ones as opposed to XIXUXUXYOOOOUNG branded ones. Jesus age christ I thought my dome was large but these are for literal giants. Don't bother, risk respiratory issues instead.

Let’s clear up something important first. These are serious masks for protection of tradesmen. These are not designed as covid masks ((although yes it will perform this function exceptionally) these are designed to be worn in dusty work environments and as such are made to stay away from your face instead of collapsing on it and allow easy inward breathing through the filter material and outward breathing through the exhaust valve. This puts an end to damp soggy material on your skin and that restricted feeling when breathing. Another plus is glasses shouldn’t fog up due to the gasket providing a tight comfortable seal and the straps being completely adjustable. Of course breathing will start to require more effort as the mask gets dirty but this is normal as you know.To be honest for anyone who has been using something like this on a day to day basis due to the trade they are in need little to no explanation. For others looking to these as protection against covid etc well it does a far far superior job to the overpriced rubbish currently being peddled just remember that it will provide you better protection but due to the exhaust valve it doesn’t filter what you breath out

In our family protecting our lungs is a priority, not only because of Covid-19, but because we have a history of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in our family. So ensuring appropriate PPE is essential for any dust generating DIY activities as the risks are high enough without taking any further risks.These FFP2 masks are ideal for dust generating activities. They are a good fit, though do ensure you spend time to get the best fit, or really wearing it becomes a bit pointless. The mask is made from good quality materials, and the seals and filter seem to work well. The straps are very easy to adjust to get the best most secure fit possible, and the face seal works well if you’ve got the fitting right.For DIY dust generating activities these really are single use, but I’d say that’s per activity. If you are sanding a floor over a few days I don’t think you’d need a new one each day (if that’s the case it’s better to purchase a more robust FFP2/3 reusable mask with a washable filter).It should be noted that these are for DIY purposes and not suitable for Covid protection., as they are not medical grade PPE.So overall these do the job they are intended to do well, but I do think the cost is quite steep for five pieces, though if they save your lungs it’s definitely worth it. Personally I’d invest in a high quality FFP3 mask with changeable/washable filters if needing them for more than a one off activity, Hope my insight proves helpful. Four stars from me due to vs,use for money only.

There's no doubt that 3M make some great PPE. As an avid DIY'er, I've bought a fair bit of it over the years but unfortunately, I didn't get on very well with these particular masks.At first glance, they seem very impressive with their easily adjusted, sturdy, twin elastic band straps, silicone seals and large vent. However, I just couldn't get them to fit around my face properly. It's a round(ish) shape and I'm clean-shaved with only one chin but no matter how I adjusted the mask, it kept leaving a sizeable gap around my chin, riding up my face in the process. Another issue was that, due to its overall bulk, it disturbed my downwards peripheral vision - never a great idea when working with tools. My face also got quite clammy after only a few minutes - probably because I also found the air throughput to be less than adequate, to the extent that I couldn't wait to take the thing off.To put things into perspective, I also received a box of traditional-style 3M FFP2 model 8822 masks to review and after swapping to one of those, I was much more comfortable and a lot happier.So, nothing much wrong with the quality but these 8825+ masks just don't work for me and I'd rather spend less on the 3M 8822s, enjoy the lighter, more comfortable feel and change them more frequently.

We have been doing quite a lot of renovating around our house where we did a lot of it ourselves. These masks were perfect for those jobs. We had them on when painting rooms and sanding floors as I didn't want to inhale the smell of paint for hours on end or get dust all over my face whilst sanding our wooden floors. The masks worked great for this purpose and held up very well when wearing for hours. Not uncomfortable and you can adjust the cords to fit your face perfectly. The cords are made of stretchy material and lies flat against your skin so you don't get those sensitive spots behind your ears.

I do not have a great deal to say about these 3M masks other than that they are well designed, well made and will help protect you if used correctly and for the tasks they are designed for.These masks will NOT protect you if spraying paint, working with asbestos or toxic chemicals/vapours.They WILL protect you if fitted correctly and used to sand surfaces flat by hand, belt sander or angle grinder and while drilling. It is the user's responsibilty to ensure they use the correct PPE for the tasks they are undertaking. I use these for general DIY such as redecorating and carpentry.These masks are made of a semi-rigid material, with a rubber cushion for a sealed fit and comfort. A small valve lets exhaled breath out of the mask, while two thickish straps are employed to hold the mask in place.I wanted these for my DIY projects, and I know they will be up to the task. 3M produce quality gear.An excellent tool for the job.
