Ignore the negative reviews.....if you want to touch and look at a good range of rocks this is a wonderful little set. The samples are good specimens of each rock, and plenty big enough to see and feel each rocks characteristics. They form a good introduction There is also a little leaflet with information on the rocks, and how to examine them. The box is strong cardboard for long term storage of the set. Ignored the magnifier.....but it does magnify if you have nothing better.Regarding size, my photos show the box is a 18cm x 12cm. I regard this as ideal for an individual or family to use. Lots of experience in a small package.......if you think bigger is better this set isn’t for you. If you want to understand and experience rocks, and even carry them around in your rucksack....IDEAL!

Great idea for getting children to notice differences in rock varieties, but really expensive and the sample sizes are tiny. Easily lost if you are trying to use them at school!

I bought this box to introduce different rock types for my kiddo. This set gives a good hands on experience to explaining metamorphic/igneous/sedimentary rocks. A leaflet is included and lists the rocks that are contained in the box(rocks are numbered with a sticker to help identify). It also gives a brief description on them and how they’re formed. Excellent educational resource.

I was looking for some rocks for a rock project my children have to submit and this ticked the box. The rocks are a little small though and can't really carry out many experiments on them, so keep that in mind. We also went to a local landscaping centre and they were only delighted to guide us through and give us plenty of samples!

Picked this up to help me teach the Rocks unit in Science. It is so great because it includes igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. It also has a tiny magnifying glass and an information sheet that helped my students to discuss the rocks' properties. Would definitely recommend!
