I was looking at a few different Keyboards with similar function, workstation meets arranger keyboard in the below £500 price range and I'm very glad i went for this one over the others in this league of kit. It has a lot more control manipulation by the user available, and its not actually that difficult to change over from Yamaha type function screens, just keep reading the manual and it really is quite intuitive. You can actually totally personalise song/phrase/rhythm settings, the huge amount of save space for personal projects was another thing that really swayed me to go for this.Upon opening i was blown away with the sounds, AND the look, keys feel great to the touch. This Casio looks way better in real too. I'm looking forward to spending time with her over the coming months!The drum sound is fantastic, speakers give HUGE sound, you could spend years just tinkering on it even if you never get to the sequencing and programming elements of this Keyboard anyway, eventually you'll become more and more familiar with it, and you can have the confidence that over time you will be able to key into those elements and the Casio OS.Yes you can spend more for a bigger screen etc, but if you know what you're doing this will serve purpose and more. Also can be used a a midi keyboard for any DAW, flash drive usb upload and storage means you never run out of space. LOVE the mic input on the back with its own volume control rotary control next to the 6.35mm jack plug socket, making it an all in one SoundStation and computer input.Great for constant rehearsal, and composition, great for beats. Fantastic range of effects fully tweakable, appliable to all Sounds, Beats, Synths, Mic input. There is also an AUX input which stays as a clean channel. It is well worth the work and time put into learning your way around the Casio EcoSystem, with full understanding of it making it similar to an AKAI MPC (yes there is sampling capability, from USB upload, or Key/Live input). Each Phrase bank can record 16 measures, with quantise, key shift, FX, Arps, Auto Harmonize AND MORE, all layers of each phrase can be COPY/PASTE/LOOPED on/off/fx'd/controlled and there are 4x25 (100) banks, so with that and the USB flash drive storage, it really is a great jammin' machine! And there are multiple other ways to manipulate those banks AND the 17 track, 10 song recording facility, (step/punch in-out/midi input and all the control editors I mentioned above), as I said before you're gunna have to spend time with her, get to know how to make her purr, and make her all your own ;)I have only just begun to dive into this machine and there is so much more it can do than what I have written here. And above I was only describing the phrase pad system, the entire song and arrangement trax have even more to use to your hearts content! Basically if you are wondering if this keyboard does what a DAW can do, the answer is 'It most probably can' which means your not always tied to looking at a laptop screen or monitor, as you become more entangled with this machine, bringing a more live feel to your work flow & beats if you do your prep work and study the manual, harnessing its true power.

In fact, with the CTX 5000, you get much more.Not too many years ago, this piano/synthesizer/drum machine/ bass and rhythm accompaniment keyboard would have been unobtainable at such a low price ........oh, and did I mention the arpeggiator, 17-track recorder, 1/4 inch stereo line outs, USB in/out plus mic and audio in? There's more but you'll have to look up a spec sheet on the internet.Folk complain it's too complicated, however, spending time with the instruction manual and watching YouTube videos should smooth your path. With all this keyboard has to offer and at this price, it's inevitable that button pressing will be necessary to get where you want to go. Also, the piano keys can't be described as pro standard in operation. However, they're close enough to other major manufacturers' more expensive efforts.So what about sounds? Again, at the price and compared to what was available until relatively recently, the CTX 5000 with its new AiX processor sounds very good indeed in my opinion. Pianos? Excellent. Strings? Great. Synths? Marvelous. Organs and drums? Life-like, varied and many at the price and so on. One particularly startling sound was a breathy sax tone that sounded like Stan Getz on 'Girl From Ipanema'.Despite the negative reviews it's hard to knock this instrument which comes complete with its own built-in, quality, 2x15 watt stereo sound system. Anyhow, enough talking. I'm off for another play on what must be one of the best 'bang for the buck' keyboards around at the moment.

Really lovely keyboard great beats great tones and lots of other stuff too many to mention.the only let down was that it came from Germany and as such had a European plug (2 pin)luckily I had an English one that would fit

This keyboard is the bees knees for this sort of price range. In my opinion it blows the opposition out of the water for its features and quality of sounds. You do have to dive into the menu to get to a lot of the features which can make it a little difficult to get the most out of it in the early weeks and months but with some patience and usage most things should have sunk in. The screen is just a typical black and grey LCD display and a little on the small side but for this money what would you expect and it compares to most others for this price. A lot of the features on this keyboard would normally only be found on keyboards costing two or three times as much. If you are a beginner I wouldn't let the array of features put you off as the last thing you want to do is purchase a more basic keyboard and then regret it six months to a year down the line. A fantastic purchase.

Very happy with this keyboard. The sounds are very good and varied. The instructions need time and patience as they are not the clearest. Videos online help a lot. Once mastered this keyboard is amazing for the price.

As mentioned above the quality of the sounds are excellent. The only big downfall is that the functions are anything but intuitive ........have a look at some of the reviews on Youtube. as some have written the functions seem to have been written by a technician in a laboratory rather than a musician .......its still a quality keyboard as long as your prepared to have the manual handy at all times to try and understand the functions .Giving an update having had it for some time......Im still no further forward in understanding how to get some of the functions to work ( I used to work in IT, so used to a lot of technical stuff)... If I could sell this I would and get something where you dont have to spend hours trying to figure things out. Also sometimes to change the voice tone tone or other selections it sometimes just does not respond and have to switch it off and start again. I would steer well clear of this if you dont want to end up totally frustrated
