With their 2015 debut Birth And The Burial, Act Of Defiance delivered a blast of pure and unadulterated metal that ignored fads and hit home hard. Returning with the crushing Old Scars, New Wounds, they have only upped the stakes. Recruiting producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Allegaeon) they tracked the record with Chris Broderick (ex-MEGADETH) laying down guitars in LA, Derek and Broderick's vocals tracked at Red Light Studios also in LA, with Bachand (ex-SHADOWS FALL) tracking at Manshark in South Hampton, MA and Shawn Drover's (ex-MEGADETH) drums at Atlanta's Glow In The Dark Studios. When it came down to artwork the band looked once more to the vision of Travis Smith (King Diamond, Opeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Strapping Young Lad). Having proven themselves on the road as headliners and supporting the likes of Killswitch Engage and Hatebreed, the band are looking ahead to the expansive touring that will accompany Old Scars, New Wounds, and their hunger to get back in front of crowds has not abated in the slightest. "The immediate goal is to tour hard in support of 'Old Scars, New Wounds', play live everywhere we can, and expose as many people to our music as possible," Drover asserts. "Touring is the best way to reach the people, as it always has been - and we will do whatever it takes for Act Of Defiance to get as much exposure as possible."

A solid follow up to Birth and the Burial. Similar scenario to Screaming and Defenders(for the Priest fans out there), not comparing the different styles of music here though, just the nature of the content. Listened to the tracks released before the CD came out, got straight into MIA and Over Exposure, the Talisman didn't have the same impact but listening to it from the disc, changed my mind, it's a good slow paced yet heavy number. Some say this band are generic but I say, generic as compared to what or who, I'm not aware of any other bands that sound like this lot, heavy groove laden Metal with growling yet clean enough to understand vocals, with balls out playing from all members, breath of fresh air as far as I am concerned. I liked to CD on first listen. Personal favourite, Reborn and this CD seems to wake up after Talisman. Heaviest for me, Conspiracy, mosh pit madness, Killing Spree, least favourite and most Megadeth sounding - Broken Dialect but whatever. Broderick is a monster. Please release more after this and tour the UK.

クリスが参加しているとはいえ、実はあまり期待していなかったんだけど正直聞き飽きない。ただ早いとかシャウトしているだけとか面白みのないアルバムが増えているのに、おそらく最近では一番聞いているアルバムかも・・・次もCD出たら買うと思います。

Thrash metal ultra genérico. Como digo, este disco no aporta importantes novedades al genero del thrash moderno, pero cuenta con una producción notable y un sonido limpio, que hace agradable y entretenida su escucha recordando los mejores tiempos del genero como el fenómeno de la bay area, en combinación con elementos mas modernos. Lo mejor es la variedad de las voces y la producción.
