The Platinum preppy fountain pen, designed in Japan features a colour translucent polycarbonate barrel corresponding to the colour of the ink. It's a refillable fountain pen with the famous 'slip and seal' Mechanism which means the cap is air tight and prevents the ink from drying out.

Like all Platinum Preppies, this 02 Extra Fine is a superb, no frills fountain pen. The nib has a bit more feedback than the 03 Fine but still not what I'd call scratchy (even when using the back of the nib for those ultra fine lines) I ink mine with Platinum Carbon Black cartridges nowadays for drawing/sketching but I have converted Preppies to eye-dropper in the past with great success (all that is required is some silicone grease for the threads and a simple 'O' ring)If you're new to them and unsure about how you'd get on with fountain pens so don't want to splash out on something more expensive at first, I'd highly recommend a Preppy (though maybe the 03 Fine to start with) as they are fantastic, reliable writers at an insanely cheap price. Also recommended for "en plein air" sketchers who don't want the anxiety of taking a more expensive pen out and about (plus you have the added bonus of being able to use Carbon Black in cartridge form which saves potential mishaps with bottled ink!All in all, I think everyone should have at least.one Preppy in their collection.

I have a lot of these pens in all the available nib sizes. Used for sketching with the Platinum carbon ink cartridges they are very good for the price. A fude nib version would be great and I'm sure a best seller.

This is a quality writing pen with a fine nib and so ideal for the student wanting to improve the presentation of their work. The nib writes smoothly on the page and produces a very fine line on good paper. Also very good for monochrome sketching. Platinum cartridges last ages but you can also use a converter if you wish. The pen can be converted to an eyedropper for high capacity ink. Lovely and great value for money.

The Platinum Preppy Fountain Pen delivers on its promise of an ultra-fine 0.2mm nib, which is fantastic for those with small handwriting or anyone who appreciates a crisp, delicate line. The stainless steel nib is impressively precise, gliding smoothly across the page when it’s working. I also love the convenience of the "Slip and Seal" mechanism, which does a good job of preventing the ink from drying out when the pen is not in use.However, my experience was dampened by inconsistent ink flow during writing sessions. Despite the mechanism's intent to keep the ink flowing, I found myself stopping frequently to coax the ink out, which interrupted my writing rhythm. This is particularly frustrating when you're in the middle of detailed work or taking notes.Overall, this pen has potential, especially for those who prioritize an extra-fine nib at an affordable price. However, the inconsistent ink flow is a significant drawback. If Platinum addresses this issue, the Preppy could be a five-star product, but for now, it’s an uneven experience.

It's not worth it.
The media could not be loaded. I got the pen and it wouldn't properly take the ink, it needs a lot of shaking before I can write a few pages. The pen fills up with ink. It's a cheap pen for a reason and you might as well invest in a better brand. I can't even return it.

Love these pens!! Super super affordable and write so well and hold ink forever, especially once made into a dropper!! Awesome fountain pens to have for everyday stuff or o give to a friend that is thinking about getting into using fountain pens. Even though theyre plastic, they are solid! So easy to use, comfortable grip and lightweight. They special lid keeps the tip extra sealed up so it doesn't dry out like others. So they just work when you need them to work, without a hassle. Great pens!!

Hace un tiempo vi una comparativa entre plumas de 'entrada' o escolares. Me pareciò una majaderìa porque dos de ellas eran una Platinum Preppy 3 y una Pilot Kakuno F.Majaderìa porque si la Kakuno es simplemente màgica, la Preppy es maravillosa.Decìan que la Preppy 3 (F) escribe muy bien pero que la 2 (EF) no tanto... No es cierto. La Preppy 3 es muy muy agradable, pero yo ya tenìa desde tiempo atràs la Preppy 2 (EF). Como las japonesas en general, el trazo es siempre un grado màs fino que las occidentales: la Peppy 2 es espectacular, y ademàs ligerìsima y muy econòmica. Regalada para lo que da. Lleva añadido el sistema de cierre de Platinum por el que no se seca la tinta en el plumìn en meses: màs que una estilogràfica es un estilògrafo. Un instrumento profesional de dibujo ¡Por menos de 10 euros! con una durabilidad enorme. No tiene un pero.Mi colecciòn de plumas -que uso- van desde la Preppy 2 a una Namiki-Pilot Yukari, pasando por pelikanes, montblancs, sheafer... Pero a mi lado siempre tengo una Preppy 2 y una Kakuno F, dos plumas verdaderamente para profesionales y conocedores...
