Medium hardness i would say its not soft/medium but a great quality mattress and is well built with side straps.Came bagged and i laid on the bed for hours to let it breath and get rid of the been wrapped ages smell.Deep fitted bed sheets fit perfectly. I bought ( Silentnight Ultimate Deep Sleep 1000 ) and the bed is much more snuggly it still needs some breaking in though but took bit of the hardness off it feels Medium a wee bit soft now and even the cat loves the softness with the mattress topper.Over all i am very happy with the mattress and plan to get Cool deep fitted bed sheets soon or a very slim cool feeling mattress topper as i imagine on hot summer nights it might get a bit hot judging by the feel.The price was great for a mattress of this quality rather than the over priced ones from expensive bed stores.

We purchased the first of these mattresses for our son who has Rheumatoid Arthritis and had been sleeping on a 100% memory foam mattress which was terrible. He had been waking up aching and tossing & turning for 3 years but put it down to his condition.Since he started sleeping on this mattress he reports how much deeper a sleep he gets and no more waking up in pain.Our only regret is we didn't buy it soonerSleep is something that effects all parts of our health mental and physical so if you are waking up in pain or keep tossing and turning trying to get comfy, its time to invest in a good mattress.Then we purchased another one for ourselves. Whilst we still believe it to be a good purchase over time I have noticed a significant issue with the sheer weight.This mattress is by far the heaviest I have ever owned. I had a Sealy 2000 micro coil Orthopaedic, Memory Foam Pillow Top mattress before this one and I would say the new one is twice as heavy. That signals quality but it can also be a nuisance.For example, changing the sheets (Fitted) is REALLY hard. You have to lift each corner up to get the fitted sheet elastic corners under the mattress. I am not exaggerating when I say it is a real struggle! The weight is significant and hurts my wrists. I have to use both hands placed under the corner then hoist it up high enough to leave it resting on my knee (Leg resting on side of bed base) so I can then go about pulling the sheet under the corner.I am a 47 year of female and it almost killed me trying to get the mattress on my large wood bed. I was covered in sweat!DELIVERY: The first arrived at 7.30am one midweek morning and the lads just left it in the downstairs corridor. Me and my partner who has Rheumatoid Arthritis in his wrists had to drag the mattress upstairs and over the upper landing banister rail. It was not impossible but very hard.So on the second purchase, a company called Arrow XL was due to deliver it. I was alone (female) so when they were taking it out of the vanI asked if the lads (2 of them) could just carry it upstairs as my hubby was working.One of them replied: "No, it's a couple of lads type job that" and I replied: "Me and my husband did it last time but he is at work"Fortunately one of the lads was more sympathetic and nodded to me that they would carry it upstairs. They did but the negative lad barked to the other lad: "Enough!" Once they got it inside the bedroom which was the first door right at the top of the stairs.I thanked them both and offered them a glass of orange. They both declined and I joked "Anyway, it's good for you!" The angry lad replied: "Not 20 a day"I went to Arrow XL website and found that actually the delivery men are "supposed" to deliver furniture into the room of your choice!Copied & Pasted: "Our standard service is to the room your customer chooses, complemented by our added-value in-home services for you to offer to your customer, making life easier by providing convenience, and giving them a great delivery experience"As such, the company failed to even attempt to deliver the mattress into our bedroom on the first purchase and on the second purchase almost flat out refused to do it when I kindly asked.SO i have knocked one star off for the bad customer care and service with the delivery company which as customers, we paid for on both mattresses

I bought this mattress after having constant back pains from a natural latex (very expensive) mattress. After trying some of the geltex series in some furniture shops, I decided I would go for this, but couldn't find the exact 1850 pocket springs series (tried the 1000, 1400 geltex)... So bought it only after reading the great reviews and hoped it would be like others described it. After a lot of research, I decided I would go with a geltex, as it is newer technology, (I hoped it would be better then the classic memory foam, and it is...). About this mattress I can say and assure you that this is the best mattress ever I have ever slept on, my strange backpain magically dissapeared in just 1 week...(my job ties me to chair like more then 8 hours a day so my back has a lot of suffering from that).I have to say that I was in doubt as on some sites it was described medium to soft, on other medium...I was kind of afraid that it would be too soft for my husband, which is a tall guy (1,92) and about 115kg...but I assure you it is not soft, in the way that it gives you just the right kind of support, and I was so releaved that my husband liked it... actually he now leaves his couch and comes into bed earlier just because it's so comfy!!! The geltex layer on top gives the softness and you just feel, from the first moment you lye down that it hugs all of your body in some way, your back, your legs... it is really really a great invention and combination with the 1850 pocket spings! It is a tall mattress, I bought some sheets that were 35cm deep, so everythink ok...When it arrived it was very well packed, in perfect condition...and the smell that everyone so much talks about I just couldn't find it... It is not so tragic as some describes it and I really don't understand why they make such a big fuss... We actually slept on it from the first day...This mattress is perfect in every way: it gives you support, (without it being like really firm and strong, or harsh - I have a kingsize miracoil mattress in my son's room with memory foam on top, again from silentnight, and I find it really strong, don't really like it, so I would agree that the 1850 pocket springs are really perfect, I just cannot explain it...they just mould after your body weight without your body feeling like it's been pressured against something... ) it is soft on the top layer, just enough for you to sink in it and you just don't want to wake up!!! My husband told me that the next morning he woke up...And also I would add that given his weight, beeing near him in bed, the mattress does not sink (you know, when sleeping with somebody heavier then you and the mattress makes you lean towards him) so I can have also a really goodnight sleep, I hope you understand me!In oder words, I assure you, you will not make a mistake buying this mattress without trying it (like I did, after reading lots and lots of reviews)...and not even the height doesn't bodder me, because this actually makes it what it is...the best mattress ever!!!
