I was very excited when this KIKI Health Organic RAW Carob Powder first arrived and straight away made my first hot chocolate with it; as I had not had carob hot chocolate for a very very long time. It was delicious! The taste was heaven; though as time went on and I made more carob hot chocolate, I sensed a taste of chalkiness; and I'm still unsure as to whether it is from my plant based home made milk; or whether it is from the carob powder.I'd like to think it's my plant based milk as I recall my first carob hot chocolate with this powder was simply delicious. I'll just keep trying to perfect my home made plant based almond milk.I highly recommend this and I'll definitely buy again. I very much like that it is in a bottle format; as it's easy to spot and store.

This KIKI Health organic raw carob powder comes as 185 grammes in a brown glass jar with a metal, screw-on lid. The carob powder is typical of carob powder that I have bought over the last forty years or so and is finely ground and has quite a low bulk density - carob powder is also quite hydrophobic and you need to press it into a liquid or use a blender as it doesn't readily mix in on its own.Unlike cocoa, which is naturally bitter, carob has its own sugar and therefore, you don't need to add sugar to it to use it in the same way as you would use cocoa powder. For example, this carob powder makes a very good milk shake with one or two heaped teaspoons of carob in a cup of milk - I used two heaped teaspoons in a half pint mug of oat milk and it was very nice.This carob powder is organically grown and works just like any other carob powder such as using it as a one to one substitute for cocoa powder.

I really like the fact that the carob powder comes in a glass jar rather than a plastic jar.So far I've used it to make cold drinks and, in the place of cocoa, hot drinks.I wouldn't be able to identify the difference between the taste of this carob powder in drinks and cocoa in drinks unless I knew beforehand that they were two different things.The only things I don't like about this powder are the high sugar content (naturally occurring) and the fact that it is slightly more difficult to avoid clumping in drinks and especially cold drinks.The things I do like are the high fibre content (described on the label as 41g per 100g) and the fact that this carob powder is completely organic.In terms of the sugar content, I've found that because it is sweeter than cocoa, I can use less of it compared to cocoa meaning that it lasts longer. I also don't have to use extra sugar for flavour.I would recommend it for adding flavour to drinks. It's not at all an unusual flavour - very similar to cocoa but more immediately tasty probably because of the sugar content.

This is a lovely carob powder. I have used it to make nutritious hot chocolate alternative drinks in the evening when I don’t want caffeine as carob is caffeine free. Carob has a slightly different taste but my teenage son didn’t tell the difference when I made him one! I make it with 1/3 boiling water and 2/3 milk or plant milk, then I add 2 or 3 teaspoons of powder depending on how big the mug is. I also add 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1/2 tsp cinnamon and a tsp or 2 of maple syrup instead of sugar. To make this a healthy but nurturing mug of coziness that everyone loves!
