Raisins are dried white grapes, although in the US the term "raisin" is used to refer to several varieties of dried grapes, most commonly sultanas. Raisins are darker than sultanas, they have a denser texture, and they’re not as juicy, which makes them good for soaking up other flavours (brandy, Amaretto, and other flavoured alcohols are particularly popular) before cooking.

So delicious and fresh an incredible taste as if they were just prepared. I have never in 50yrs of baking had such a product that has been more than I ever expected. It’s dried fruit. So it’s dried. Whitt worth’s are plump and juicy by comparison, which is odd as they are supposed to be dried too!
