One lasted 2 years/seasons and the other just one year. Were stored indoors for winter but would not work with new batteries the following spring. Do not buy ! Cheap rubbish.

This is a basic unit that gives scheduling watering and is good value for money compared to many of the more advanced units on the market. Instructions are easy to follow.The only downside is the connection to the tap and you may need a reducer, some plumbers tape and an extra rubber washer. All are easily found in your local hardware store. When it's connected properly it works fine and can be left alone.. I normally use these timers during the summer and remove the batteries during the winter. I have used the most expensive to the least and they ALL fail eventually after two or three yers. So my advice is to stick to the cheaper options.

I've had three of these. The first one worked well for two years, the second for one season and the third gave up after a month or so. There was an internal leak which flooded the battery case and the outer plastic lid. We were away for a hot week and got back to a load of dead seedlings. After inspection not only a leak but a badly soldered joint to the battery wiring. After three attempts my conclusion is they are not very robust and it might be better to pay more!

I've bought two of these in the past, and both failed at the same point: where the unit is screwed to the tap. That's probably my fault for leaving them in place over winter, but I won't be buying a third.It's also worth noting there's no "On" button. Whatever time you insert the batteries, 12 hours from then is when it's going come on. So, if you want it to start at 6.30pm in the evening, you'll need to be up at 6.30 in the morning to set it up.

This is a generic type of water timer and for the price is good value. Offers a choice of how long to keep the water on and the frequency of this. Very easy to set and the only problem I have is this at the moment has been an annual purchase because I leave it out too long into the autumn and a hard frost breaks the plastic outlet when the water freezes. This isn't the fault of the equipment though. Have tried the digital ones but they are not as simple to use or robust as this and the batteries don't last. This kind of timer sees one set of batteries last the season.

Instructions could have been clearer.When you set schedules, the time you do that is when it will activate in your chosen periods (24/48/72 hours etc)Length of time period is not accurate, 30 mins became about 45 but it works. I would only use for absent periods & remove from tap all other times.Worth the money.
