Okay, this isn’t as good as the fresh vanilla custards that you can buy in a tub. It is obviously also not as good as custard you make from scratch with eggs and milk (etc). But it is much better than using custard powder and very much better than having none at all when you unexpectedly do not have all ingredients to make your own and an apple crumble (or similar) has just come out of the oven and is begging for custard to be added.I keep a couple of tins on standby in the cupboard for emergencies as well as general use as it is good enough in terms of taste and consistency that you don’t mind it instead of any fresh options.

A lovely thick custard.This is the ordinary, full sugar variety, although the sugar content isn't that high.At 10.6% sugar it is less than I would have expected.Sugar is Amber on the traffic light system, with fat (2.9%) and salt (a trace) content being green.It is mainly made from milk (75%). Although it does contain palm oil.Taste wise it's lovely. Thick and creamy with a hint of vanilla.Absolutely lovely on a hot apple pie.Why bother with the effort of making your own custard from powder, when this is available?Absolutely delicious.I hope you found this review helpful.
