5.0 out of 5 stars Good little machine
Jammed a couple of times as it seems to not like fresh cuttings, just cleaned it out wearing protective gloves and power off. Cuts quickly and into really fine pieces, collected 10 container loads so far and alot more to do. Really pleased
5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good, it shreds my wood
The media could not be loaded. So this arrived earlier than expected (which is great).Once removed from the box, the unit gets turned upside down and the 2 main legs/arms swing out and over. All you do is fit the axle bar between the ends and screw on the 2 wheels, fit the wheel trim/covers and then flip the unit over onto its feet. Then slide in place the container.Thats it!The machine is fairly noisy but apparently most electric shredder are.For me this wasn't an issue, wear ear defenders if it is!Make sure to wear eye protection too, and gloves. The twigs and branches you feed in shouldn't be too thick, maybe about the thickness of you thumb.if the branches are splaying out then it may struggle pulling them through, but use some common sense and split the branches that may pose a problem. The shredder doesn't pull things through it with any power, you have to feed it into the opening and use the plunger provided from time to time.Don't go mad with thick branches, I avoid these as its sure to damage the blades. My main aim is to clear the huge pile of medium/small branches from recent pruning and lopping. The machine performed well and the chippings were smaller than I was expecting. The longer pieces are probably where is forced stuff through too fast or used the plunger. But overall, it did the job better than I was expecting and will definitely make it easier work to clear this pile of branches. You also get a few spare blades too, which is handy for the future. It does state that the blades can be turned around as they have 2 cutting edges, so that's great as you get 2 uses from each blade. All in all a great buy!
4.0 out of 5 stars Great. Only a small 'but'!
The media could not be loaded. For the price, this is best shredder I've used. Yes, noisy( as all are) but it's coped for 3 seasons so far. Shredded most of a huge dying rowan tree, and 2 large conifers. Along with all the pruning from my beech and privet hedge and extensive fruit garden. Also, with any bamboo that wasn't thick enough to use for my beans, and then even that once its usefulness was over. However! You do need to remove the roller at the bottom of the outlet chute if you want to process softer leafy prunings. (This WILL invalidate the warranty, as its a safety item to prevent idiots from putting hands up there!) And it's a good idea to keep some dry branches to pass through from time to time.I'm only just now buying new blades and it's worked extremely hard for me.Makes lovely fine mulch. You know blades need sharpening/ changed when too many fine twigs get through. 2nd pic is example of when blades need changed. The quality of mulch depends what you put through machine. Size, type etc. 2nd pic is from a self seeded prunus of some description legt to dry for a day or 2 till I got time to shred. This will go into leafmould pile. The long bits are great for kindling if you don't get newspapers any more!Just make sure any longer bits are not clogging outlet chute. Unplug, pull drawer out and pull them free. The video is a small example of just how much this machine has coped with each use. (Excuse the mess, there is a large job in progress!)Overall, I love this machine. Be sensible with and it should give years of use! Like anything of this price, don't overface it!And no, it won't do yucca leaves! Not even with dry woody stuff. Unless you only have a few. You prob need an Archimedes screw type shredder for lots of green stuff. I use an old lawnmower!
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good

5.0 out of 5 stars Shredder
Not a bad bit of kit for the price would recommend it to anyone
5.0 out of 5 stars Dirty pro garden shredder
Bought this for my husband as he had broken the next door neighbours fly mo looked at a new flymo and at £200 couldn't see the point. When first used he only filled 1 bucket and it stopped working (over heated he said) it had filled up near the blades so opened and cleaned, used for 2 hours solid and filled 2 buckets with ease for £120.00 it is an amazing tool to have just a few tips.1.dont force twigs in too hard it stops it.2.clean it as it will over fill near the blades and stop.3.remember its a little shredder in not a big industrial one and you'll be fine.Over all this is an amazing little machine to have if you need to shred overgrown bushes. Sorry to mention it is quite easy to assemble even though some say its hard.
3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty with some good features but feed hopper need a re-design.
On the good side the motor is powerfull (and noisey, but that can be said of most of them) and the collecting box is wonderfull and it chops stuff down fo a good small size, excellent for composting. I have been using it for leylandii hedging which is green and wet, so it is quite a difficult material to handle. At first I found that it would block up very easily, far too easily. Inspection revealed that the slot at the base of the cutter chute has a rotating bar across to stop idiots from shoving their hands up into the cutting chamber and paring their fingers. Removing the bar made an immediate improvement. The other snag is that the slot through which you ram the matarial to be cut is too narrow and the anti-put-your-hand-into-the-cutting-chamber-device is too stiff, I hope it gets floppier with use. It is quite hard work to use compared with the Bosch machine that it replaces. Finally the Dirty Pro Tools machine was designed by someone who has never seen a real tree. It works fine with straight branches (like Hazel) but anything that has a bend or a slight branch coming out of it is hopelessly trapped in the overstiff feed slot. The Bosch was better in this respect being a lot less fussy. Next week I start on the Laurel!
4.0 out of 5 stars Shreds well
