5.0 out of 5 stars Great spice grinder :)

    E.H. · 14 October 2025

Brought to use as spice grinder. Very good build quality and surprisingly powerful. Only need to blend for 30 seconds. All manner of spices have been ground to a very fine consistency. Will hold a fair quantity for grinding. Comes with a small brush to help clean it. Maybe noisier than expected but it’s only a 30 second run. Versatile, efficient and effective. In terms of safety, simply unplug it when you clean it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good little bean grinder

    c.b. · 28 October 2025

Great little bean grinder. Does enough in one go for 2 large mugs of coffee. I use a French press and the flavour of my usual beans was just as good as previous grinder. I bought this due to the 12 month guarantee and 1 yr fixed warranty. It takes up little space on my limited worktop area and plugs in to a normal 3 pin plug. Stands approx 7” high. Matt grey plastic body wit metal blades. The run time is 30 seconds then you leave it to cool down for 3 mins between grinds to avoid over heating. As its only me that drinks coffee once a day I’m fine with that. You don’t need to do it for 30 secs anyway! I didn’t want anything fancy or expensive. The coffee holder is fixed but you just tip the grinds into your jug and then I use the cleaning brush supplied to sweep out the remains. If it lasts the test of time my five stars will remain. Let’s see. So far I’m very pleased with it for the price. It suits my needs.

4.0 out of 5 stars it does the job, is quick and not expensive

    E. · 9 March 2023

LIkes? Not expensive. It is quiet and quick. It seems well made although I haven't really had it long enough to comment on durability. It is very simple to use.No serious dislikes but one or two downsides. I use a stovetop espresso machine which is best with fine ground coffee such as you buy. This grinder does a reasonable job but the coffee is not really ground fine enough for this sort of use..It is ok for filter and cafetiĂšre use.The "hopper" for holding the beans and the ground coffee is fixed in the top of the machine so tipping out the ground coffee is a bit awkward without spilling. For the same reason the hopper has to be cleaned by brushing it out which is a bit fiddly. Definitely can't wash it out as water would get into the motor with probably exciting result!I shall use it but at some time will likely buy one which has adjustable grinding "fineness", and a removable hopper which will make it easier to empty and clean. Will have to spend a bit more I guess.

5.0 out of 5 stars 20 Seconds to Coffee Bliss!

    D.R. · 27 February 2025

I’ve been using the Andrew James Electric Coffee Grinder for my daily grind since September 24, and I couldn’t be happier with it. Every morning, it takes just about 20 seconds to grind enough beans for my 4-cup cafetiere (though you could grind a bit more). It's quick, efficient, and consistent. I’ve had no problems with it whatsoever and it’s been running smoothly day in and day out.Occasionally, some grinds stick to the inside (probably due to a bit of moisture int the beans that I have been using), but that’s no hassle at all since it came with a handy little brush that makes cleaning a breeze. The build quality feels top-notch, and it’s clear this grinder is made to last. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality coffee grinder!

1.0 out of 5 stars A total waste of time and money, plus awful aftercare support in general. Avoid!

    A.B. · 15 June 2016

Absolute rubbish! It's okay at chopping up spices but leaves you with so much mess afterwards that it's somewhat pointless. You are supposed to clean the unit afterwards with a damp cloth, as there's a constantly attached power lead. So, let's look at the scenario where you've ground strong coffee beans and then want to use it for spices. After cleaning it with a damp cloth your spices will later still be infused with the taste of coffee. Likewise, should you "grind" (it chops actually by the way) Scotch Bonnet chillies and then wipe it out with a wet cloth, your coffee will later be very spicy. The issue is, as you may have gathered from above, that the grinding/chopping container doesn't detach from the electrical cord tethered base.Save yourself money and hassle and buy the cheaper, and far more efficient, Kenwood Mini Chopper. As much as I hate to back Delia Smith, she's right in that it really is a kitchen cheat gadget, plus it seems to have been designed with longevity in mind; something which is clearly lacking in this Andrew James rubbish.I'm getting a bit tired of this Andrew James tat to be honest and it's about time people started realising. Apart from their fondue set (which was actually great) I've had to send back a number of items because they look great in principal but are designed by an idiot.Whilst I'm on the subject, be warned of their also terrible customer service. When I bought their totally awfully designed toasted cheese maker and had to send it back, they initially refused its return because it had been used. It took the action of "using" it to find that all the cheese leaked out of the container and into the electrical parts due to poor design, despite me following all of their instructions. It was totally unserviceable after, what with cheese all over the electrical connections, and became a hazard.Quick tip: if you can deal with a smaller toastie and a bit of effort, try the Diablo toastie maker. It's not electric and comes to pieces entirely. Anyway, I digress. This spice grinder is...you guessed it...going in the bin now as it's a complete waste of money.Good bye, Andrew James! You'll certainly never be the Dyson of our kitchen times! No more purchases from you guys at all. Just your poor customer service alone deserves 1 star, but you keep backing it all up with truly terribly designed and manufactuerd products.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and cheerful

    M.J. · 28 July 2025

It's ok, probably just about scraping a 'good for the price'. It's a simple one-touch operation machine and the simple rotating metal blade does technically blend whole beans down, but it doesn't really achieve anything finer than a coarse grind, no matter how long (up to 30secs) you hold the button. It also tends to leave larger chunks unless you manually pulse the button. The shape of the unit also means it's not that easy to pour the grounds precisely out into another container. It's fine for ÂŁ16, but don't expect any sort of fine grounds from it.

Lieber in mehreren kurzen Etappen mahlen.
