5.0 out of 5 stars High quality
Very happy with this vernier caliper. It truly is a piece of quality British engineering and comes in a practical plastic hard case. The reading scale is both in millimetres and inches and reads in accuracy of 0.02mm. It took me a few minutes to master it, but now that it is done, I can safely say that I much prefer it to a digital one. Also, no messing with batteries. I believe this is a good compromise between the cheapest and the more expensive calipers. I recommend this product!
5.0 out of 5 stars Top quality constructed tool
Very impressive tool for the money. I can't fault it at all. This is the Moore & Wright 150mm analogue vernia calipers. If you want great quality at an affordable price, look no further.Tried on multiple gauge blocks, they are as accurate as the stated resolution. Highly recommended tool, I'm very happy with them
4.0 out of 5 stars Nice set of verniers. Thumb screw needed fettling.
These seem like a nice set of vernier calipers. I have compared measurements with a micrometer and I get pretty consistent results. My only minor complaint is that the thumb screw had been shortened in the factory but not deburred so it was stuck in the hole. I had to use a pair of pliers to remove it. After fettling with a needle file the thumb screw works perfectly. I have removed one star because of this fault.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent precision engineering
This vernier caliper is outstanding quality - very precisely milled and accompanied by a certificate of conformity to the national BS standard. It represents real Sheffield heritage and though a few pounds more expensive than some of the imported competitors, the quality is so much higher that it easily justifies the premium. It comes in a good case, with cut-out foam lining. All in all an excellent buy. Check out the company distributing them, Allendale, for more precision measuring and marking products. They despatched by return, well packaged, and seem very fairly priced.
5.0 out of 5 stars It's an M&W !
Good accuracy when tested against gauge blocks, on both the metric and imperial scales. Well made as you would expect and has a sturdy protective box. Good value, costing the same as one I purchased 15 years ago.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good Quality Tool
Rather disappointingly, this is not made in the UK. However, despite being quite expensive, the build quality is good and the accuracy spot-on, unlike some of the cheap rubbish currently coming out of China, which (in my own experience) can be next to useless.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality. Needed slight adjustment.
I'm a bit dubious of the accuracy and reliability of the many budget priced digital calipers available, and so settled for an old-school analogue only model. For the discounted 15 squid I paid, I can't really complain about the quality. It's probably made in China. It feels good enough for my simple needsApart from the little card shown in the photo, there are no other documents included. The manufacturer assumes you know how to use the instrument.Supplied in an unmarked black plastic hinged box. I had to attached a label to help identify which side of the box is the 'lid'.The lower (mm) increment scale was off zero out of the box by whisker. It wasn't too difficult to carefully loosen the 3 screws and align the zero marks. I found I had to tighten the two outer screws first to prevent the centre screw throwing the adjustment out. The attached photo is after I completed the zero alignment.Note this model is MW100-15BI with resolution of 0.02mm. There is an alternative MW100-15B with resolution of 0.05mm, and where the graduations on the 15cm imperial scale are marked in fractions of 1/16 inch which may be more useful.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good value non-digital calipers
Good quality, quite well-engineered calipers. British! I like the idea of no batteries and no cheap digital displays that might fail one day. No instructions included so you'll need to Google how to use them properly if you don't already know, but all-in-all a good balance between price and quality.
No batteries required!
This is really nice. I have an electronic caliper that reads to .001, but that one eats batteries, so I have to take the batteries out each and every time, which is incredibly annoying. Next, the electronic one loses zero all the time, which means I need to double check every measurement. So that's why I bought a manual vernier caliper in 2017.Ok, the specifics... This measure inside and outside and depth. A little over 6" travel. The thumb thing is NOT a wheel, but instead a knurled rest that makes it easier to slide the jaws. It works well. The tightness is just right, easy to use. The finish is brushed stainless. It's not polished, or made to be fancy looking, but it's functional. If you've never read a verier caliper, you might want to read about it before ordering. It direct measures in .025" or I think .1 mm increments, then you use the vernier for the .001" or .02 mm. So you have to do a little math in your head, or on paper, here. And you need good light to read this thing. If you need reading glasses and don't want to wear them, this isn't for you.Oh, and pretty sure this is made in the UK, which is kinda cool. They invented the Merlin engine over there, so they do know something about machine tools. With this made out of stainless steel, it's a safe bet that it'll outlast me by a wide margin. Don't think that will be true of my battery powered caliper.

Great quality. If you are debating between and inexpensive digital or this manual vernier caliper go for this one. Far more reliable.
What good verniers were meant to be
There is nothing I disliked. I have had dial and digital calipers. These are priced right and as accurate as anything I have ever needed really. I did check these against a high dollar set of constants and they are spot on as far as I can see. My eye sight is doing me no favors but I am reading them easily enough with my reading glasses. No more batteries or movements or crystals to worry about. PERFECT! Far less worry about contaminants on the slides too.
