This new album from plaid is tremendous.. It is one of those several electronic albums you can play all the way through and be enthralled with every track. The quality of the sound from the vinyl on my Linn turntable is outstanding and dynamic... I love this.

I'm going to keep this one short. If you have listened to Plaid before please read section A, if not then please focus on section B.Section A: This is one of the best albums of Plaid's career. It is typically playful, creative, exquisite and enjoyable yet with a measure of consistency that surpasses most of their other albums. At 9 tracks in length it is a lot more concise and manageable than albums like 'Double Figure' or 'Trainer' and virtually every song is top quality. The beats are a little more simplistic in places, enabling Plaid to focus their efforts on what they do best, piling on endless layers of squelchy, plinky, playful synths. While Scintilli saw the duo heading in a more 'Autechre' kind of direction, 'Reachy Prints' sees them returning to a kind of 'Boards of Canada'/'Orbital' area, and it works. What amazes me is that they are still able to produce music of this quality after so many years without running out of ideas. If you want to preview a few tracks before you buy then try 'Hawkmoth', 'Martin Lunaire' or 'Tether'. Enjoy.SECTION B: If you are a fan of slightly abstract electronic music but find the likes of 'Aphex Twin' and 'Squarepusher' a little hard to listen to, then I would definitely recommend a listen to Plaid. This new album is certainly one of their best and it is a fantastic, concise album to start with. The tone of Plaid's music is basically light-hearted and bouncy electronic synths, weaved into an ever changing tapestry. The beats are simple and there are never any lyrics, it is simply just 'music' in its purest form. If you scan briefly through the tracks then you will totally fail to grasp the appeal of this group. You need to listen to one song from start to finish, then move onto an album if you enjoyed it. The best thing about albums like 'Reachy Prints' is that you can just put it on in the background and get on with whatever you are doing. I've already listened to it 5 or 6 times and I can promise you that I have enjoyed it every time. If you want to try one track to see what this is really like then I recommend listening to the song 'Hawkmoth' or 'Martin Lunaire'. Enjoy
Strukturierte Electronic
Plaid gibt es nun schon Jahrzehnte und der Warp-Act ist bis heute ein Geheimtipp, wenn es um detailverliebte, melodiöse und experimentelle Musik geht.Ihr neuestes Studioalbum "Reachy Print" geht diesen Weg zwar weiter, nähert sich aber weiter einer eher durchschaubaren Struktur an, was schon auf dem Vorgänger "Scintilli" (2011) bemerkbar war. Das Album "Spokes" (2003) war für viele Fans damals wohl eine Art Scheidepunkt, denn damit gaben sich Plaid immer mehr dem Experimentieren hin (wenn auch nie so extrem zu werden, wie beispielsweise die Warp-Weggefährten von Autechre). Mir gefällt dieses Album nach etwas Reinhören weiterhin sehr gut, aber man merkt schon, dass "Reachy Prints" um einiges "catchier" ist, wenn man denn bei Plaid davon sprechen kann. Tracks wie "Oh" oder "Wallet" sind typisch Plaid - disharmonische Melodien treffen auf abstrakte Beats. Das zieht sich auch weiterhin durch das Album, aber Tracks wie "Hawkmoth", "Slam" oder "Matin Lunaire" sind teilweise sogar recht tanzbar und die Melodien schmeicheln sich manchmal recht ins Ohr. Das tut dem Album gut! Man ist geneigt, es immer wieder zu hören (bei für ein Electronic-Album recht kurzen 40 min. Spielzeit sowieso kein Wunder) und ich freue mich immer wieder über die gelungene Mischung aus Experimenten und Tracks zum Mitgehen. Der ein oder andere Track (das schräge "Liverpool St") hätte gern noch etwas länger gehen können, aber "Reachy Prints" ist insgesamt ein richtig tolles kleines Electronic-Album geworden.Nicht falsch verstehen: Wer Plaid vorher nicht mochte, wird wohl auch hiermit nicht glücklich. Für alle andere gilt: ein konsequenter Nachfolger von "Scintilli" (vor allem wenn man Tracks wie das untypische "Unbank" mochte)!
Another Great Plaid Album!!!
I have been a fan of Plaid for a long time. I love that they change their style throughout their albums. This album is great! If you are a fan of Plaid then definitely pick it up. If you are not then check it out. It is not meant to be a Top 40 album for the masses. Thank you PLAID!!!!
Le retour des maîtres de l'electronica.
Si en 2006 le duo m'avait quelque peu déçu avec leur album "Greedy Baby" enfermé dans un abominable boitier écologique, "Scintilli" me rassurait davantage en 2012 sur la carrière à venir d'Ed Handley et Andy Turner. Alors qu'en est-il de leur dernier effort?"Reachy Prints" demeure avec "Not For Threes" et Rest "Proof Clockwork" le meilleur de leur discographie. Peut-être un peu moins riche et complexe que les deux albums cités, leur dernier album est d'une qualité qu'il sera sans doute important de réévaluer après quelques dizaines d'écoute.Toujours est-il que pour le moment, il ne quitte plus ma platine...

何となく物憂げな優しさと繊細さが全体を覆うアルバムだと思います。前作より重心が低めの音作りがそう感じさせるのかもしれません。plaidの作品はエドとアンディ、彼らの人柄や生きてきたプロセスそのものを音という形で見事に表しているのだろうなと感じます。似たようなクリエイターはいるかもしれない、が、決して彼ら以外には作れない楽曲達。周りがどうあれブレない芯を、一時期の迷走期間を経て築けるようになったのかもしれません。
