I dare you not to like this movie, l even dare you to say negative things about it?? you can't you know why because it's "BOSSANOVA" dude!!! l haven't seen this movie since l was a kid and my perspective of it was very memorable from the scenes the turtles reveal themselves, the entrance of villain Shredder and the exciting final fight on the rooftop. Seeing this movie today is like having an injection of nostalgia. No matter how corny the jokes are or how stereotypical the dialogue is this film is awesome.This movie is a perfect blend of the comics and the cartoon TV series as the whole atmosphere of the movie is dark and surrounded by corruption and crime (like Tim burton's BATMAN) but the turtles have the charm of the Cartoon series and they both work really well but it's also a great example of the 90s generation. For a movie done with puppetry suits they actually work well, Splinter looks absolutely awesome and the fight choreography in the battle scenes are well put together.The actors play their characters perfectly, sure their not gonna get awards for it but they do a swell job.Bottom line this movie is so underrated it puts most modern comic-book movies to shame and that includes your precious Dark Knight. Why because it's funny, well executed, faithful and most of all it's Entertaining. Now go watch this classic!!!

This film was massive in 1990 and is still a quality film today. More of a 'real life' and edgy feel to this film over the more childish style of the films 2 & 3. Turtles 1 is aimed at adults and kids and has a classic late 80s feel about it with action and humour thrown in. For any new fan or someone like me who was there in the begining in 88 this film is a must have to your collection!

The original and in my opinion the best version of the butt kicking turtles. Yes it looks a bit dated compared to films nowadays, yes they are guys in costumes but the film still looks good to me and gives a dose of childhood nostalgia. Video and audio quality are an improvement on the DVD release but sadly (and surprise with the remakes and its original box office) there are no extras apart from a trailer. Behind the scenes or vintage cast interviews would have been a welcomed addition. Hence the four stars.

The original & best TMNT movie ! This will be inevitably compared to the recent remake & it's upcoming sequel, but this version is how you bring the comics to life !Yes, some effects techniques & technology are a little dated, but I'll take the more realistic genius of the great Jim Henson's Creature Shop over the exaggerated, oversized, ogre-like frightfest that is the soulless Michael Bay 'update'.Even the brilliant Nickelodeon animated series draws inspiration from the 1990 movie, keeping it arguably as relevant & influential to the TMNT franchise as the source comics themselves

I saw this movie when I was around 8 or 9 or something, and the soundtrack was forever etched into my memory. In my opinion, this movie has more soul than most of the 'superhero' movies produced these days (I wasn't too impressed with The Avengers, though I did like Ironman). at the time, this and Ghostbusters were fantastic looking movies without the modern CGI look that can often leave me feeling a bit cold. Funny, Atmospheric, edgy (fairly violent for a PG), uplifting, and with a soundtrack that helps this film stand out from the crowd. Almost 30 years later, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time I saw it. I am a huge fan of puppet rather than CGI characters

I'd just like to point out that I adore this film. It runs circles around any of the proceeding movies, using the foreboding tones and ideals of its comic origins, whilst balancing the aesthetics and writing to carter to its target audience: children. The physical props and great acting have made this 1990's classic stand the test of time, and it honestly hasn't aged a day. To sum up; if you haven't watched it I urge you to do so immediately.But this review isn't about the praises of the film itself, but on the Blu-Ray transfer. I own an old DVD copy of this film and it retains everything that is fantastic about it. However, the Blu-Ray version of this movie sacrifices the dark gritty tone for a brighter contrast and spit-polish on the picture, effectively removing a lot of the visual appeal; unearthing costume lines, etc the viewer isn't meant to see. The best analogy to give would be what happened to The Justice League: a movie that was designed to be visually dark, but when you up the contrast it reveals all the magicians tricks.The bottom line being, save your money on this and hunt down a DVD copy of the film as it's still superior to this.

旧亀三部作の一作目は日本国内でなっかなかDVD化されなくてコレクションに空きがあるままでイライラしていたので助かりました。普通に再生出来るし、字幕がないだけで簡単な英語だし何度も観てる映画だから理解に関して問題なし。しかも、ジャケットが秀逸。そう、こんなふうなシンプルなジャケットがいいんですよ。DVDのジャケットは映画のオリジナル公開時のポスターをそのまま使っているのがベスト。変に見たことないようなアーティスト写真を使われても違和感しかない。そういう意味でも、このDVDはベストです。
