I started making flatbread about 10 years ago and was looking for an iron pan in Southall. I asked an Indian lady next to me what she would recommend and she pointed to this Futura. She said she used to use iron pans but the chipatti stuck to them and cleaning was a hassle. So i bought one and mastered flat bread making (indeed I have just eaten two for breakfast with my home made raspberry jam). The pan I bought years back is in perfect condition and wipes clean in seconds. A pan for flat bread must have even heat and withstand extremely high temperatures, which this does.This pan is a masterpiece and I see that it rightly has a patent. I would highly recommend it for anyone who is serious about making flatbreads.

Despite several reviews saying works on induction hobs... IT DOES NOT (see answer to 3rd question which I missed when buying this product). Sadly it's nothing more than a nicely finished doorstop in our house.

I purchased this last July. I had the exact same pan in the past which had lasted me for over 3 years. I had to leave that when we moved countries, that’s why I was so excited to get the same here in the UK. But this one was thoroughly disappointing. I have used it consistently, almost every day, to make chapatis, dosas and pancakes. This worked really well up until 6 months, after which the coating started coming off. I never hear it beyond medium high flame and have taken great care to hand wash it only without using any abrasive materials. All that effort in vain when today I finally got frustrated when my dosa stuck it like hot glue and I chucked it in the bin. Looking at the price, I should have just purchased a regular griddle pan off Tesco’s rather than staying loyal to the brand.

This Tava is very good. It's coating is best. It's 26 cm in size and has 4.8mm thickness which makes it very sturdy. Kindly note that use non stick Tava for specific use only and not for making all types of food. This increase life. E.g if purchased for making roti then use it for that only.
German made non-stick coating; 2yr warranty
I got this to cook pizzas in the oven under the grill using the method as researched by Heston Blumenthal. Have used the plain aluminium dished version and it works great 3-4 minutes. I put the pizza on the tava on the gas burner while loading up toppings. Plain hard anodised flat version tava would be best for this. The non-stick version is still made of hard anodised aluminium, so if the non-stick surface comes off under the grill, I am not complaining. All metal handle goes fine in the oven under the grill.Non-stick presumably teflon-based doesn't like high heat. The instructions are very clear on not using high heat. Complaints by people giving low ratings due to separation of the base or non-stick coating damage are probably using high heat. If you really want to use high heat, get a plain hard anodised aluminium version which has a 5-year warranty and is approved for high heat.

A bit expensive but brilliant quality! Heavy duty Rawal. My wife loves the making Chappati’s on it.
