This is the second Masterlock padlock I have purchased, and although they are expensive, they are well worth the extra. I have had my other one on an outdoor shed for nearly 2 years and it stil operates like a dream with no rust or stiffness. Because of the positioning and rubber cover over the combination mechanism the numbers are still clear and easy to turn, so when I needed a lock for my heating oil tank I purchased this one because of its resistance to tampering and cutting.

I ended up buying 2 of these locks so i am writing a review that covers them both. I was pleased with the lock itself, it is heavy, and solid with the hexagonal bar instead of the standard round which i liked. I used this on my garage and bought a second one for my father. From my opinion, its a great idea having a combination rather than having to carry a key, making access to the garage easy whenever i want. I have been using them for a couple months now and to date there is no sign or rust or anything but i will update this if needed.The combination is on the bottom and is covered with a rubber flap that you just pull open and press back after use. This seems a nice addition to me as can only help to protect from the elements.The combination location though i find a little harder to operate than the previous combination lock i had where the turn dials were on the side of the padlock and could be gripped from either side so were very easy to turn though admittedly it wasn't nearly as strong a lock.The number dials are the reason i have reduced this to 4 stars though. They are quite flat to the base, don't stick out much so if your hands are wet they are a bit more difficult to turn. One lock i got is perfect and the dials all turn nice and smoothly but the second, the the first 2 turn smoothly, the 3rd a bit stiffer but the 4th can be very difficult to turn at times and is stiff which results I'm me often not even changing this number as its annoying trying to set it.If it wasn't for my experience with the dial on that padlock i would have awarded 5 star while i wait to see how weather effects them over time.Overall it is a sturdy lock and good design though.

Had one of these for about seven years. It has finally stopped working so just bought a new one. Good lock.

I've bought several of these, a good size and seems well made, the rubber flap will eventually fall off but with some wd40 evey year it should last a good few years.

Lock was easy to set up with new code. Seemed to work fine initially, but the combination began to seize a little after a few days. Ended up full seizing and was unable to use. Will unfortunately be going back to keyed locks.

Good, strong lock. Clean, crisp tumbler action, easy to use. Dont know what to say about "warmth" as it is a padlock, not a 24 Tog duvet.

It's a good sturdy looking padlock and was easy to setup but unfortunately only a few weeks in and it's already starting to give me grief! It is a pain to get it to lock again once it's been opened and the waterproof cap is pretty much useless.
