This has to be the BEST NUTCRACKER AVAILABLE. It is very well made, from a natural resource - WOOD - and WORKS PERFECTLY, cracking nuts easily, with very little effort and, WITHOUT DESTROYING THE KERNEL. I recommend that, BEFORE USE, the SCREW IS REMOVED and, A GOOD WAX POLISH IS APPLIED TO THE THREAD to ensure free operation. The wax polish should, also, be applied to the knob at the top of the thread. Similarly, I recommend that the WHOLE OF THE BODY - BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE PLUS THE INTERNAL THREAD, is treated with the good quality wax. Once the wax is dry, give the whole item a buff with a soft cloth BUT, DO NOT REMOVE THE WAX FROM THE THREADED AREAS. This will help the body and knob from being marked. Leaving the wax on the threads will ensure trouble-free running. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. In fact, I've already ordered - and received - another one for my daughter's family. A great product crafted from a natural material, obviously, with care by a craftsman.

Why did you choose this product over others?:I bought one of these for a friend and was so impressed I bought one for me. I love the feel and size. I know it's for cracking nuts but I can use it to mend socks.

Worked from August to December for occasional use but now does not work at all. Tiny bit of wooden screw thread near end has broken off. So does not tighten at all. Completely useless. Shame. Was pretty thing.

We're lucky enough to have a hazelnut tree in our garden. My 6 y.o. son enjoys collecting them and then cracking and eating them. This nut cracker is safe enough for him to do that for himself. While smaller, i've found the home grown hazelnuts sweeter and tastier than the store bought ones, so it's worth the effort. it's one way of getting him to eat something nutritional rather than sweets, crisps, chocolate, cakes etc.!

For the first few days I thought this was the best nutcracker going. The item looks stunning and feels great to handle. However, this didn't last long as when trying to crack an almond, the thread was stripped. I contacted the seller and the return/refund was quickly dealt with so good comms/customer service from the seller. I wonder if a similar design in metal would solve the issue with almonds?

I brought this as it is very cute and I liked that it is wooden and natural looking. It cracks nuts with ease and I find it far easier to use than the more traditional style nut crackers.

I purchased the "original" version of this nutcracker which was good value for money. However, then I saw the upgraded version. After studying it carefully, I decided to purchase the newer version. It was DEFINITELY worth the extra £2 or so. With the deeper cut threads and the metal cap making first contact with the nuts....it looked every inch (or millimetres) even more durable. I am just an ordinary regular Bolo customer that rarely submits reviews. So when I do, I try to make them as positive as possible. This nutcracker I would highly recommend.
