5.0 out of 5 stars A great tutorial book going from very basic to building a micro-computer.
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Re-purchased this book that I first purchased 20+ years ago to accompany the main volume. It is re-firing some of my older grey cells and inspiring me even in this age of credit card sized computers.
5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks
What a great book!A note to the seller: thanks for perfectly describing and photoing this item! It was perfect!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Five Stars
It is a very good book.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I expected
I bought this thinking it would be offering the answers to all the exercises set in the "Art of Electronics" book.Although it does give some well worked out exercises it falls short of being the "answer book".It's worth purchasing if you're a student and want to see how one should work out an exercise. Otherwise, if you're a professional then you can easily pass it.
1.0 out of 5 stars Hopelessly out of date.
The Art of Electronics is an excellent guide to electronics but it is now hopelessly out of date. For this student manual this is even more of a problem: it's entire purpose is to set exercises to practice what the Art preaches: but it is so out of date that it is simply impossible to source the parts you need! Not worth buying unless you're a collector or simply are interested for historical or reasons of curiosity.
The very useful companion
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } If you got your copy of the main text ("The Art of Electronics") - this is the perfect companion. Some of it is outdated (e.g. the 68008 labs) - but nevertheless a good intro into digital processing. The analog labs and examples are timeless. Can't wait for the 3.rd ed. of the main text, which is overdue!
Extremely Useful
Extremely useful book. I bought this as a required text for a college course. But you don't need a college degree to get a lot of mileage from this. The book starts with Ohm's law and resistors and takes you through the entire scope of electronics. By the end you'll be building computers from scratch. Special sections on high frequency circuits and low voltage devices. I commonly return to this text to refresh my knowledge and solve problems that arise at work. If you're interested in tinkering with electronics I highly recommend it. The concrete example circuits are helpful, as are the examples of common mistakes.
Truly Excellent Book
This is a perfect book for me. I have a strong math background and no electrical engineering background. I highly recommend getting the student workbook that goes with it. I love the conversational style, but far more important is that the subject is presented pretty rigorously without a lot of "hand-waving."
Legit???
Quality of this book is sub-par. The pages are so thin you can see the print on the opposite side of the page. Printed in India and half the price of any other Art of Electronics books makes me wonder if this is even a legal copy.
