I have been buying a good quality steel cut oats for my porridge and intensely disliked it. I need a lot of fibre in my diet and that is why I ate it. Some days I just couldn’t face it again. For some reason I decided to try Flahavan's oats and joy of joys I actually like it. I make it with water and add real cinnamon, blueberries and a banana. It also does my gut health good. Plus the bonus is it only takes three minutes to cook.

Steel cut oats are supposed to be super good for you and don't raise your blood glucose as much as rolled oats. Soaking then overnight and cooking then for about 30 minutes over a low heat provide a filling breakfast. It's a bit like chewing through rubber bullets but supposed to be healthy so we try to stick with it.

I use these in muesli/porridge to give crunch and goodness. Always read that steel cut oats were the best for you, bit too expensive but finally discovered that "pinhead" oats are the same thing but cheaper!Obviously high quality product, processed well.Have not tried a different brand as these are so tasty with great texture. Also encouraging "local" business.At least give them a try - I have even ground them to a powder, but then obviously lose their wonderful texture, but it works.Read the site for details on organic quality, etc.

I did not like how long it takes to cook far too long in my opinion not worth the hype and I do not intend to buy again I will stick with normal oats in future as they are cheaper and cook much quicker.
