It does work well. Dries out a bit quick. I squeeze the Dunlop string cleaner on it then use it. Probably would work with a bit of lighter fluid on it.

I had a Planet Waves XLR8 Lubricant and cleaner and realised it was nin years old although I think it still worked. However, I binned it and ordered the Fender Speed Stick and it seems quite dry and doesn't really do anything much. Easy enough to use but I'm disappointed that a Fender product isn't as good as I had hoped

Prolongs the life of my strings by months, genuinely! It can't recreate the feel of brand new strings after the first couple of weeks but it gets close for a substantial amount of time, and leaves the fretboard feeling slick and fast. My gripe is that the cleaning pad naturally gets dirty with the string grime after a while, but the solution on the pad does a great job of holding it instead of just putting it back onto the strings. I haven't tried reversing the pad yet to use the other side (it sits in a plastic casing), but whether you're supposed to do that, I'm not sure. Worth a try though! Great, easy-to-use, a logical and quick way to clean your strings!

1. When I opened the blister pack all most of the cleaning liquid had leaked out of the into the pack and was not contained within the product housing.2. Looking at this product you imagine that the grey thing is full of cleaner, it is NOT (see picture)3. The only cleaning/lubricant fluid is what remains soaked into the tiny pad !4. Pad is NOT wide enough to comfortably reach across all strings on my SG, so it isn't "A snap" to use.5. There's possibly less than 5ml of fluid left in my pad and it's brand new out of the pack. A Bottle of Dunlop 65 has 60ml and cost a couple of quid more.6. I'd send this trash back but I can't be bothered, I'd rather spend the time warning others not to waste their money. Cannot believe this is a Fender branded product.

The Fender Speed Stick appears to do what it is supposed to. It comes in a convenient size to fit anybody's gig bag, so no reason not to use it regularly and that may lead to longer times between string changes. It's convenient, mess and odour free and a reasonable price. I like it. The only reason it drops a star for longevity is that I have no idea what to expect in this regard.
