5.0 out of 5 stars High quality grinder

If you’re looking for a quality grinder for moka, v60, or French press, this is a great purchase. It’s simple to use out of the box, and the grind settings offer a great range which means you’re not going to have to spend too long dialling in for the right coarseness. It is a well-rounder grinder and you can use this for pulling espresso shots, but you’re not going to get the highest quality shot. It’s going to be drinkable, but don’t expect it to match the Niche Zero. The machine isn’t really designed for single dose espresso shots. If you’ll pulling shots for milk drinks they you’ll get a great coffee with ease. I’ve had very little problems with grind retention, and grinding for v60 I’m getting 20g in, 20g out. It is definitely worth cleaning ever 2-4 weeks this will affect how much retention you are getting, and also the flavour. You don’t want old bitter beans of a different grind in your coffee. The cleaning is a little bit awkward for as some of the parts a held it very securely and being plastic, they don’t feel as robust as I’d like. It’s a well made, easy to use machine that will get you great coffee across all ranges.

Love this grinder. Bought an espresso machine and got ground coffee from a supermarket. I didn't really enjoy the coffee so decided to go for a grinder and this was a great decision and a great choice of grinder. I ordered fresh coffee beans from a coffee roaster , and difference is amazing from supermarket coffee. Coffee is amazing. Beans weren't as expensive as you would think. It was a bit of trial and error for a week or 2 but when you get it right it is worth every penny. Easy to use and clean. It has a timer and 60 settings on neck of grinder , and also can adjust from inside for fine adjustments. I got mine just in time as it went up £60 in price a week later. Best purchase I have made in a long time, along with the espresso machine. They work well together.

I got this because it can grind from espresso fine to very coarse. Okay, purists will say the espresso is only fine enough for a machine with a pressurised portafilter, but that's as fancy as I'm likely to get. The main thing is I can also grind coarse enough for a pour-over or pretty much anything else. It's not 'cheap' but I consider it decent value for a good standard of grinding. In operation, it's pretty quiet and very simple. You either keep the button pressed until you have enough coffee or set the timer and press the button once. If you keep changing the grind size, you'll have to keep recalibrating the timer. And in fact after a few weeks of use, I've realised the timer is inconsistent and not to be trusted – I get better results just counting to ten in my head and pressing the button manually. The bean hopper is sealed so okay to store a reasonable quantity for daily use.You can insert two sizes of portafilter (adapters are in a compartment in the base where there are other tools) or use a dosing cup. Or just a regular cup if you're not fancy.Adjusting the grind size couldn't be easier – you just twist the whole of the hopper – and there are about 40 settings. Well, one thing could be easier – seeing the number you're setting it to is quite tricky because of the the reflective surface. The construction is very neat, but the overall effect of the the grinder, though quite stylish, is that it is built to a price.Cleaning is easy (static does cause mess – though it seems to get less over time) and the machine is pleasantly compact. I don't like the loud hum the transformer makes but it does remind you to switch off at the socket.I moved up from a Hario hand grinder and not only is this vastly quicker and easier (I was getting sick of hand grinding), you can really taste the difference. I was actually surprised by how much better my coffee tasted using this instead of the hand grinder. So overall I'm mostly happy with my purchase as somebody who's serious about coffee, but not in the obsessive category.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Decent Grinder

I was not looking to buy another grinder, especially an expensive one like this, but when my old one decided to give up after many years of constant use I had too, my choice was cut down by the fact I wanted a grinder that directly filled the porta filler rather than grinding direct into a container, so that narrowed the field down considerably, this Sage grinder stuck out, I already have a Sage coffee machine which I bought on a whim but don't really use as although it's a brilliant machine the milk steamer is just too slow, but based on the grinder that was incorporated in the machine I was confident a Sage stand alone grinder would be a good buy. To start with I wanted a black one but the only one I could find was more than double the price so it had to be silver, I found it easy to set up as I had already had done it with the Coffee Machine, it is just a case of setting your grind by rotating the collar under the hopper, more finer adjustment can be set by adjusting the burrs inside the hopper, then choosing a time on the timer knob, I went for a fine grind and 15 secs on the timer to start and I only really needed to add another second to fill the porta filler with the correct amount, a little guide tool is included and hidden inside the grind spill tray, once your tamped coffee level is set you should not have to use it again, the one thing I was worried about prior to purchasing this was the cradle that holds the porta filler as the machine I am using has a full sized one where as Sage is much smaller, but they covered a few different sizes by supplying an alternative cradle. once your all set just press the button in the middle of the timer knob and off it goes, it's not at all noisy which after my old one is a pleasant surprise, it gives a nice grind with not too much wastage unlike my old one where I had to push the porta filler against a knob and hold it until I was happy I had enough coffee in it, which was normally too much, so that's it, once set it can just sit there and do it's job when needed, which is one reason I did not bother getting it's more digital brother for around £40 more, just no need for it.
