I have a Wusthof steel which I am happy with and enjoy using and also a Chantry knife sharpener for when I need a 'quick fix' but I have never been overly happy with the Chantry. This arrived today and I used it on all my knives of which I have many: mainly Wusthof, some Global and some cheap ones which I take when we go self-catering. Firstly I tried out the cheap knives and I agree with some of the other comments, the AnySharp takes off a lot of steel and I was initially worried about using it on my better ones. Metal filings aside, the AnySharp turned cheap OK-knives into fine tomato slicers. I gingerly tested one of my Wusthof knives and lo and behold, hardly any filings but fantastically sharp; the same with my Global ones. So I guess it depends on the quality of the steel (hard or soft) as to whether you take a lot off as you sharpen or just enough. It is really easy to use but feels a little odd on the serrated knives. I found that it clung to the surface and didn't budge.POSITIVES:+ Easy to use+ You can sharpen one handed and safely when it is attached to your work surface via the suction cup+ Leaves knives and scissors as sharp as new (and in the case of my cheaper knives...sharper than ever)+ It is compact and easily storedNEGATIVES:- If your knives are made of softer steel, you may find that they 'disappear', however, they will be great while you have them ;-)

Nice and compact and the suction cup works well. It does sharpen, but it will leave the blade very jagged and damaged so this is definitely not to be used on high-quality knives. The worst thing for me though is the noise - it’s like dragging fingernails down a blackboard every time you pull the knife through. For that reason I really don’t think I can carry on using it. Great as a cat deterrent though - my cats literally ran away when I used it!

Very good sharpener, works exactly as described. I use it in conjunction with 6000 wet stone to smooth the edge but you don't have to.

I Looked at a few & even sent one type back before a plummeted for this one.Time will tell but initial impressions it does what it says on the tin really well.Perhaps a little more expensive than some but not as expensive as others.On first use it certainly sharpened up the stainless steel knives that we have had some time & more impressive was how small this thing was (6cm diameter & 6cm high).If you have a smooth worktop then I am sure this will clamp down like a gorilla, but ours is slightly dimpled (old fashioned) but it still clamped to it with the locking handle long enough for us to do our x6 knives albeit not all together in one session. Although no harm in clamping it down onto a smooth cutting board of the like.What I like about this type is that there are no wheels that need replacing so it should last a life time !! compared to the wheel type that get smoother & less effective over time. The replacement wheels for our old one was the cost of a similar whole new sharpener!Just make sure you get the right type of sharpener for the type of material you intend on sharpening i.e. ceramic or stainless steelNot least what you want to sharpen. i.e. scissors, knives etc. (always see the manufactures information or website)This little gem did our stainless steel carving knives & serrated bread knives without much effort. It left a nice dusting of metal fragment on the table top.Please note this is NOT suitable for scissors or other serrated knives which I think are classed as cheese knives or day to day cutlery knives.Afterwards like all newly sharpened items carefully clean the sharpened blade to remove any metal fragments.It's a 5 star from me & happy with our new found sharp knives.

Ein praktischer Helfer für scharfe Messer

Als leidenschaftlicher Hobbykoch ist mir die Schärfe meiner Messer von großer Bedeutung. Daher war ich auf der Suche nach einem effektiven und einfach zu handhabenden Messerschärfer. Dabei bin ich auf den Messerschärfer mit Saugnapf gestoßen und möchte nun meine Erfahrungen teilen.Der erste Eindruck des Messerschärfers war sehr positiv. Das kompakte Design und die hochwertige Verarbeitung haben mich sofort überzeugt. Der Saugnapf an der Unterseite ermöglicht eine sichere Befestigung auf verschiedenen Oberflächen, was besonders praktisch ist, da man so beide Hände frei hat.Die Handhabung des Messerschärfers ist denkbar einfach. Man platziert das stumpfe Messer in den Schleifschlitz und zieht es mehrmals durch. Dabei spürt man förmlich, wie die Klingen wieder schärfer werden. Besonders gut gefällt mir, dass der Schleifwinkel bereits vorgegeben ist, sodass auch Anfänger problemlos ihre Messer schärfen können.Ein weiteres Highlight des Messerschärfers ist die integrierte Sicherheitsvorrichtung. Durch einen kleinen Hebel wird verhindert, dass das Messer zu tief in den Schleifschlitz rutscht und somit Beschädigungen vermieden werden.Die Ergebnisse des Messerschärfers haben mich vollends überzeugt. Meine stumpfen Küchenmesser wurden innerhalb kürzester Zeit wieder rasiermesserscharf. Sowohl Gemüse als auch Fleisch lassen sich nun mühelos schneiden, ohne dass ich viel Kraft aufwenden muss. Auch die Haltbarkeit der Schärfe ist beachtlich, sodass ich nicht ständig nachschärfen muss.Ein kleiner Kritikpunkt ist jedoch die Lautstärke des Messerschärfers. Beim Schleifvorgang entsteht ein relativ lautes Geräusch, was auf Dauer etwas störend sein kann. Hier wäre eine Geräuschdämmung wünschenswert.Alles in allem bin ich mit dem Messerschärfer mit Saugnapf äußerst zufrieden. Er erfüllt seine Aufgabe zuverlässig und liefert scharfe Ergebnisse. Die einfache Handhabung und der sichere Halt durch den Saugnapf machen ihn zu einem praktischen Helfer in der Küche. Lediglich das laute Geräusch beim Schleifen könnte verbessert werden. Dennoch kann ich den Messerschärfer mit Saugnapf jedem empfehlen, der seine Messer schnell und effektiv schärfen möchte.

Es muy práctico y fácil de usar. Afila muy bien y cumple su cometido para la cocina. Es claro que no es un afilador profesional pero los cuchillos quedan muy bien afilados. La calidad de afilado es notable y no ocupa mucho espacio. Se deben leer las instrucciones para su uso adecuado.
