I read some mixed reviews on this product that had me nervous about my purchase originally, but I experienced only positive results.I bought this for my parents house. They come and go a lot, and us kids stop by, etc. and I thought it would be a fun gift they would never think to buy but would love. I bought the product and it came 2 days later via Prime. The reviews I read were all pretty positive about the quality of the unit but were VERY mixed when it came to installation and programming. Some left paragraphs on how hard both were and you should set aside 3-hours to complete, and then other reviews were basically "Great! Super easy install." So I had no idea if I would be able to figure this out, I'm not super handy—I'm tech savvy so I figured I could get the programming done easy but the install I wasn't so sure about. But you know what? I'm in the "super easy install" group!—Hardware Installation—I installed this bad boy in roughly 30 minutes (I used a drill to screw and unscrew, so maybe add time if you're doing that by hand) and this wasn't a new door that had now deadbolt hole or anything. I was replacing a traditional deadbolt, basically unscrew everything from the old deadbolt, and then follow the directions to install this one. I knew taking the old one out would be easy, but installing the new one I wasn't so sure about. The directions admittedly weren't the greatest, but if you follow the steps (looking at the pictures as reference) and think about what you're doing it's pretty basic. Again, it took me under 30 minutes to install and I was talking to my parents about something while doing it.—Programming—Now this part was easy to me. At first it's not obvious how it works, but after looking at the directions I realized it's VERY easy to program. Simply follow the steps in the programming guide. It's basically your programming code followed by "kwikset button" followed by the number associated with the task you want to perform, then "kwikset button" to start the task (i.e add an unlock code, change auto-lock time, etc.)—After a few days—My parents love it. They thought it was cool to begin with but after a week of use they find it to be super convenient and useful.The only thing I with it had was a separate button to illuminate the keys at night. If you press 'Kwikset' they turn on for .3 seconds and if you press a random number you have to then press 'Kwikset' to cancel out what your typing to start the actual code. Basically if it's really dark you need to know where the first button is in your unlock code number so it illuminates, then you can see the rest. Otherwise it's great.For the price this product is amazing. Super nice build quality and works as it says.

easy to install because of the good videos from kwikset. We have an office where we installed this as a second lock. Now, we can limit daytime user access based on who knows the code. In the evening we turn on the second lock.

I was very excited when ordering this electronic lock. The reviews were amazing and it was about $30 cheaper than the major home improvement stores.As advertised, the instructions were very clear and installation was a breeze. I did need to make one adjustment to account for the smaller hole in my door. Subsequently, I needed to remove 2 tabs from the mounting plates. They give you simple step by step directions how to do this.After 20 minutes, I was thrilled to see everything working smoothly. The latch bolt extended and retracted successfully both when inserting the key and rotating the turnpiece.Now I was ready to load the batteries and program the lock. This is the point where things took a turn for the worst. As soon as I hooked up the power, the latch bolt wouldn't fully retract anymore. It seemed to be jammed somehow. I fiddled with it for over an hour. I couldn't figure out the problem. I assumed the lock was defective because it operated smoothly with the key. I knew it wasn't a user code issue either because the latch bolt would extend to lock the door after entering the code. It just wouldn't retract completely to unlock the door. It would just stop midway and jam up. I was so frustrated and disappointed. I was ready to give up and send it back!After watching several installation videos online, I learned an important thing about electronic deadbolts. Apparently, all components need to be perfectly aligned or it will misfire. I decided to give it one last shot. In desperation, I loosened the mounting plate and bumped the key cylinder and latch just a pinch towards the door edge. I re-tightened the mounting plate and hooked up the power. Success!!!I'm glad to report the lock is working perfectly! I deleted the default codes and created my own user code with ease.Some great features:1. You can program up to 6 different codes simultaneously( 4 - 10 digits). Every family member can have their own code.2. Enable/ disable auto lock feature automatically re-locks your door. It can be set between 10 and 99 seconds.I plan to buy another one for the back door. I anticipate this lock will provide years of reliability.

La cerradura tiene un acabado muy bonito y de altísima calidad, el mecanismo funciona muy bien, las baterías incluidas hasta el momento no se han agotado lo cual es importante, leí reseñas de que había personas que tenían 10-12 meses y aún no se agotaban las baterías y esa fue una de las razones por las que me animé a comprar este producto frente a otros de la competencia (además obviamente del precio).Es súper fácil de programarlo, los botones responden bien hasta el momento, me gusta que te de la posibilidad de guardar varias combinaciones para así compartirlo con personas de verdadera confianza en caso de una EMERGENCIA (por ejemplo yo necesitaba un documento importante en una ocasión y no estaba en casa entonces le llamé a un familiar y le pedí de favor que entrara por el, con la combinación pudo entrar sin necesidad de una llave como normalmente es entrar a una casa y eso me salvó el día).Eso sí, como comentaban por ahí en otra reseña... esta cerradura no sirve para las casas donde la puerta sea de vidrio o tengan una ventana sin barrotes por donde puedan meter la mano porque abrirla por dentro es muy fácil, basta con girar la perilla y ya.De hecho algo que pudiera no gustarle (o gustarle, dependiendo la situación o emergencia) a algunas personas sobre este detalle es que también un niño podría abrir la puerta y salir a la calle a cualquier hora del día, digo cualquier hora porque por ejemplo estamos acostumbrados a por la noche cerrar toda la casa con llave y dormir, pero en esta cerradura esa idea de "cerrar con llave" es muy diferente, porque ya no necesitas la llave para nada prácticamente (de hecho yo ni la he usado nunca, solo la tengo en mi llavero por si acaso se me acabara la batería ) para que tomen eso a consideración. La verdad eso para mí no es ningún problema porque vivo solo con mi novia entonces el producto nos ha caído de maravilla, nos ha salvado de veces en las que olvidamos las llaves adentro y aún así entramos como si nada, me ha dado oportunidad de dejar entrar de repente a mi mamá o amigos a que entren a casa para que tomen algo o entren cuando aún no llego para que no se queden afuera y cosas así, la verdad es que son detalles que se agradecen.Aunque claro, no vas a darle la combinación a todo mundo, y de preferencia cambialas constantemente, pero eso ya depende de su confianza a las personas!
