5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic

    T.M. · 21 September 2024

Fantastic tool, I am delighted with it. Sturdy but not heavy. Not too noisy. Minimal vibration to the hands. Good and powerful. Easy to control. Blades are easy to switch. Excellent ergonomics. It has just made very short work of sanding down an oak door frame, ready for a fresh coat of oil: usually I hate doing that job (by hand or with an orbital sander) but it was a doddle.

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice bit of kit, but why no blades to try it with?

    B.W.S. · 20 September 2016

I purchased this because I was told that a multi-tool was the way to go if i wanted to cut holes in tiles that were still affixed to the wall without damaging the surrounding tiles. Yes it it that with the help of a diamond dusted blade but it does a lot more as I have discovered in cutting, sawing, scraping and sanding, It does not come with any accessories apart from the storage case which means you have to buy some blades before you can use it - its like buying a toy without batteries included - I ordered a set of different blades from saxon SH15MXF 15 Saxton Saw Blade Mix F - Fein Multimaster Multitalent Bosch Makita Milwaukee Oscillating Multitool but it would have been nice to have a couple of blades with unit. The Makita TM3010CK/2 Mulit-tool is a well made, tough machine with a very simple way to change the blade. It is well balanced and was easy to control when running. I now find when I have to do a bit of DIY it's the Makita I turn to first.

Excellent tool. In the last month this has had a good deal of use during a kitchen fit. It is so useful when it is not possible to get a jigsaw into position. This type of tool is slow for longer cuts but that's not what it was designed for. Tool-less feature is very convenient and holds the blade securely. Good long lead. Cuts better if the material can be prevented from vibrating.Very minor criticism is that the case is slightly too small to get all the cable in without being super tidy - but I'd rather have the long cable than a shorter one that fits easily.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great tool, disappointing plastic case

    P.S. · 4 June 2020

The tool itself seems excellent (I've only used it in one session so far, removing some grout from between some bathroom tiles, using a quite expensive Bosch Carbide-RIFF tile/grout segmented cutting blade). Went through thick grout with hardly any effort. The tool runs a lot more quietly than I expected - although when actually doing work the noise increases, but I think a lot of that is due to sympathetic resonance in the item being worked on.My big gripe is the plastic case! It's pretty massive, but there doesn't seem to have been much thought paid to accommodating the length of the cable at the point it exits the tool - there's a section of rubber guard around the cable where it meets the tool, and if you know anything about the way copper wire breaks after repeated bending due to work-hardening, you'll appreciate the shortcoming of the case.... this is because it demands that you bend the cable right where it exits the tool (and right where its protective rubber guard is) to the point where it feels like you're forcing it into a shape it doesn't want to go in.And even if you're willing to bend it into submission, there's no obvious place to store the generous length of cable that the tool is fitted with. If you look at my photos you'll see what I mean.Makita definitely need to go back to the drawing board on their design for the case for this tool.

    5.0 out of 5 stars It's a Makita - quality guaranteed.

I am daft about Makita tools, and therefore biased. But I have never had a bad one. This mains powered multi-Tool is no exception, I was given a cheap version and the difference in power and accuracy is so apparent. The cheap one gets far too hot far too quickly and tends to go off to whichever side of the work it decides to pick, this Makita stays relatively cool and maintains a straight cut. The blade holder is a little fiddlier but it is very secure, doesn't come lose and I have unwavering confidence in its ability to do the job.TEN stars...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Makita Multi Tool

    R.R. · 30 April 2017

Very useful tool. Powerful, sturdy, well designed. Very little noise or vibration when cutting wood. Easy to control.Quick change is brilliant and the tool interface takes standard universal blades such as Baban. Blades can be oriented at various angles. Long power lead (5 metres?)Only criticism is the plastic wallet inside the detachable blade box (just under the handle). Best idea is to remove the wallet and use the blade box without it. As with all oscillating multi-tools, one should pause frequently to let the blades or sander cool down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice bit of kit!!!

    M. · 11 November 2018

This is every but as good as I was expecting. The lever operated cam lock is really good but beware that you need to push it directly upwards to release the pin which has concentric circles rather than barbs to secure it in place. The fact it's OIS makes it compatible with most aftermarket tools. Makes nice neat cuts very quickly and is far better (faster and more rugged) than the LXT cordless version. If I have any gripes at all it would be simply how difficult it is to fit the cable back in the case - I think I'll probably stick it in a Makpak-2 case instead

    5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent multi-tool

    A.B. · 22 April 2016

This multi tool is in a class of its own and has performed faultlessly. At £99 it is the same price as a similar multi-tool available from many DIY stores, but there is absolutely no comparison as the Makita is MUCH quieter in operation, does not vibrate the hand as much and can work happily at all speeds without overheating unlike the one available from the DIY store, which has a warning saying if the tool becomes hot, whilst using it at low speed, it should be run at high speed with no load until it cooled down; the instructions went on to say that the tool should only be used, at low speed, for short periods at a time. No such warning with the Makita it just works and works well.
