It's a good general purpose oil with a pleasant, slightly nutty taste and due to its high burn temperature is ideal for stir-frying too. The only challenge comes when decanting it into a smaller bottle. I now have a set of funnels and with some patience it can be filled with minimum mess.
5.0 out of 5 stars great local product
I started using cold-pressed rapeseed oil as a replacement for olive oil in salad dressing. Yes, it tastes different but at least it has character and fills the role well. Olive oil is getting too expensive, is rife with fraud and isn't produced locally. This oil is less than half the price of the equivalent amount of a good Greek olive oil and has a nice, nutty flavour. You can ignore the 'health fears' around rapeseed oil because they are inaccurate, outdated and don't apply to cold-pressed oil. Good stuff and highly recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good product
Best price I could find got unprocessed cooking oil. Inoffensive flavour little smell.
4.0 out of 5 stars Healthy Option
I used to buy cheap canola oil ie Canadian rapeseed oil. I substituted it for butter when baking and it worked very well. I then read that most imported ‘vegetable’ oil is highly refined to remove not only smell, colour and taste but also all the good stuff. Thought I’d try a home grown product that was healthier. It’s taking me a while to adapt to the colour and taste, I remind myself it’s like changing from poor quality pharmacy olive oil to extra virgin olive oil. I first used it to make an orange cake and have to say the natural golden colour of the oil really enhanced the look of the cake, for me there was a slight nuttiness compared to the refined oil but no one else noticed this. I have diluted it with peanut oil for more delicate bakes and it works very well. We used it half and half with olive oil to make mayo for a Caesar salad dressing, that’s quite a punchy dressing, it was good. I always use it to shallow fry and have not had any noticeable strong smell or flavour coming through. It was particularly good when used on a griddle to cook aubergines and courgettes for a salad, no smoking or burning at high temperature. You can cook crispy vermicelli noodles at very high temperature with this oil, interestingly the noodles remained white and there was no strong flavour from the oil. Not used it to deep fry I imagine it would give chips a lovely golden colour. No else else has noticed the change or commented adversely on flavour or smell, in fact I’d say there is less smell when frying, so I will continue to use this home grown oil!
5.0 out of 5 stars Oil for baking frying roasing
This vegetable oil like others I have used is fine for any kind of baking roasting or frying. You can even use it to oil the gate or the garden shears if you like but it is very good and better than the usual vegetable oil.I like it because I don’t use olive oil not having been brought up on it so I really don’t know how to use it except for salad dressing and I find it makes everything too oily. This is what I have got used to and what I use when I am not using butter
5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Oil
We like to buy British where we can and this rapeseed oil is. We buy bulk as it does workout cheaper in the long run. Its a very good oil and we use a lot of it. Highly Recommended.
5.0 out of 5 stars looks and tastes the same as hill farm rapeseed oil
I have used hill farm rapeseed oil for years and as i was on here looking i came across this brand and thought i would try it i have some hill farm left and decided to try them in a taste test i was unable to tell them apart both taste and colour are the same and my wife and sister could not tell the difference either and its cheaper than hill farm too i will now buy another as i use lots of this in my cooking and fryer food does seem tastier with rapeseed oil rather than normal veg oil and seems crispier too
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product!
This is my second time of purchasing this product. It adds flavours to the food either by frying, cooking or as salad dressing. For this reason, I have placed order for me to have the product every 2 months. I will surely recommend it! Lest I forget, the delivery was prompt, that is, was delivered a day before the recommended day of delivery. Kudos!
