This sits well around the fireplace! is very sturdy, given that I have two kittens who are quite boisterous it doesn’t move when they are playing around it nor can they jump over the protector. Other guards can have a bit of a gap at the top or is very large and you have to put it around the whole fireplace where is this sits right into the fireplace area and looks quite neat and doesn’t stand out. For the price it’s wonderful because I tried to find a decent protector by other providers and it was too expensive for what I wanted it for.

This spark guard is fit for the purpose. Though it is quite lightweight and it gets very hot. When it has been in front of the fire for a while I have to roll down my sleeves over my hands to move it if I want to pop more coal in the fire, as the little handle on the front gets too hot. But then - it is metal and sitting in front of a burning hot fire, so it's bound to get hot right? :) It's an OK guard for the price, but I'd say get a more heavyweight guard if it's to protect children from the fire, as this could quite easily get kicked over as it is so lightweight. We got it as a safety measure for the cats and it works just fine for that, as cats generally aren't stupid enough to go near the fire anyway.

This fireguard is a perfect size for my seldom used ( but regularly serviced) coal effect gas fire. Its primary purpose is to prevent visiting small grandchildren from rearranging the coals. (The fire is never lit or switched on at the wall when they visit.)Perfect for the job!

Looks good and stops any sparks. Doesn’t heat up like some of the reviews I read stated, I don’t need to use a glove to move this out of the way to put in more wood.

Need something to keep my kittens from fire when on, which it does, but it’s not heavy so easily knocked out of place, so you do need to stay around when fire on, it keeps toys which get tossed from hitting fire
