5.0 out of 5 stars Best Buy ever
Well, when I ordered this zapper I was optimistic but really hoping it would work on our 10 week old puppy. I read quite a lot of the reaviews and decided that I would give it a go.Our puppy came to us with the odd flea after living on a farm and with lots of other dogs. She had been given flea treatment so I was looking for something I could use until I could reapply spot on.I have used the zapper now about 4/5 times and each time it's detected a flea which I'd missed and zapped it straight away, it's brilliant and so easy to use. It does have a high pitched buzzing sound which sometimes can annoy our puppy, but it's not loud enough to scare her.If you're looking thought these reviews wondering whether or not to purchase this zapper then I can honestly say, go for it, you won't be disappointed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Super useful and effective
This thing is brilliant. I haven’t found anything better. It works a treat - it kills the small harder to catch fleas outright and it stuns the large ones so you can comb them out easily and drown them in sudsy water. It is a little flimsy and easy to accidentally turn it off as you are using it which is a touch irritating. It gets blocked up easily but it includes an unblocker brush and I have had it for 3 or 4 years now and it still works well. Don’t use nasty toxic flea chemicals - use this! With a raw or real food diet and this as a fail safe you don’t need anything else! If you don’t want to feed real or raw food to your dog then you will need to use this much more and I’d recommend using a cedar oil spray as a deterrent for walks too. Harmful chemicals are not necessary at all!
1.0 out of 5 stars I loves it, I loves it not.....
Well, actually I love it BUT it stops working after a little more than a month. My dog has long hair so I cannot just comb through. My trick is to search for the fleas and then insert the zapper to fry them. Much easier than trying to catch them by hand. It doesn't get rid of the eggs and is not as efficient as you would wish for the price but with the long fur the normal flea comb is definitely not an option so this definitely beats picking out by hand. The down side is that the zapper stops working soon. This is my second one and neither has lasted. I thought the first was faulty so gave it another go.After a few weeks of use the zapper stops buzzing right away when it is switched on. I gave everything a careful, thorough clean but that didn't help. I had to switch it on and leave it for a minute before it would work. That minute gradually lengthened and now it will not start at all. Whwn you retract the teeth it buzzes nicely but that is just no use. Oh, and another thing, if you just zap the fleas in passing they only seem to be stunned. I need to leave them touching the zapper for a few seconds before they are definitely dead. And that makes such lovely flea fireworks if it's getting slightly darker :DI hope that helps
4.0 out of 5 stars Yes it DOES work, but read below!
So. Before buying I read a LOT of reviews as they all seemed to say it was amazing, or useless. So. I’m going to give a proper objective review to help others. This item is actually not as bad as a lit of people make out. Not perfect, but, actually pretty good. So the noise it makes isn’t too bad, could scare some animals, but didn’t scare mine so that’s good. The comb prongs could be a little longer - my fat is a domestic short hair and the hair is too thick and long in places for the prongs to reach the skin. But, if you change the angle of the comb so it’s perpendicular to the skin it works fine (and as it’s electrified it doesn’t need to be at an angle to lift fleas out - as soon as they touch it they are electrocuted). The battery cover build quality isn’t great but to be honest it doesn’t fall off. And if it does, it looks easy to tape up. It comes with a little cleaning brush to get fleas, flea dirt and fur off the comb which works well. So. Down to whether it works or not. Yes. Mostly! Probably 80% of the time it kills fleas on contact. The noise means that current is flowing. And when something makes a short circuit (like a flea) the sound stops. This indicates you’ve got something caught in the comb. So lifting the unit away from the animal will show you what you’ve got. Mostly it’s a flea but sometimes the unit will stop because of flea dirt or other particles in the fur. About 20% of yhstime though the flea is stunned and not completely electrocuted so best to just check. But they certainly aren’t capable of jumping away so are easy to kill. The only recommendation I would give is to regularly clean fur and dirt off the unit as it will not electrify again until the short circuit is removed - IE, the dead flea is removed. Also if the comb is full of fur then it can push the flea away from the electrified prongs and mean it doesn’t get electrocuted at all. And then it will jump away. So. Comb a few times, then clean the comb, then carry on. And for fur that seems too long or thick, just part it and do it in small chunks. Then this does exactly what it says it does. Overall I completely recommend it! It really does work as long as you bare the above comments in mind.
3.0 out of 5 stars Effectiveness
Jury still out on this one. First attempt using it and zapped a flea straight away. However, after that the buzzing would cut out as though it had found a flea, but no flea there, no flea poo, no debris so nothing blocking the teeth. I did use the little brush non the less just to make sure. Tried using it a few times but similar results, caught one flea then lots of false positives. I'll give it a few more attempts as it's too expensive not to.

This works beautifully! My dog had fleas even though treated with Frontline Plus spot on only days ago. I didn't know what to do. She's short haired and white so I could see the little devils but couldn't get them. This comb was brilliant...I find one, stick the comb by it and comb, end of the crawler! They seemed to like going on it actually but I should imagine they quickly regretted it lol. Other than once it killed them instantly. Check armpits and warm areas because that's where they love. It's the first time my 9 year old dog has had them and hopefully the last but one of these is worth keeping in stock just in case (reminds me of the one I used for nits on my children to be honest. Useless then too!)
grande delusione
