Ampersand Art Supply's Museum Series Gessobord is a truly archival surface for oil and acrylic painting. Gessobord is made from our premium warp-resistant 1/8" profile FSC-Certified Hardbord that is sealed and protected with our proprietary Archiva-Seal to prevent yellowing from Support Induced Discoloration (SID). Each panel is individually coated with a professional artists’ grade acid-free acrylic gesso for a slight, even texture. Artists choose wood painting panels because the surface offers more vibrant colors, allows for precise detail and is an overall better support than canvas for their artwork. Ampersand panels are strong enough to hold up to the most rigorous palette knife painting and heavy layers of collage and will not bow or flex like canvas. Only Ampersand builds cradles by hand with premium-grade, 13-ply birch plywood for maximum stability and a clean, finished look from edge to edge. Choose from 3/4", 1 1/2" and 2" deep cradles, offering support and presentation all-in-one. Excellent substrate for oil paints
One of my favorite surfaces for oil painting. Fun to make a lot of 6x6 paintings. Ampersand also sells a nice maple floater frame for them.
