A hand-held knife sharpener designed to easily and perfectly sharpen your kitchen knives. The ergonomic design gives maximum efficiency and comfort in use. Features a replaceable ceramic wheel and non-slip base for quick and easy knife sharpening. The ceramic wheel is covered by a clear knife-guide, designed to keep the knives in the correct position. Sharpen little and often, until the desired edge sharpness is achieved. A tactile and 'firm grip' handle provides a secure and safe hold and the clear cover over the ceramic wheel is designed to ensure that fingers are safely out of harm’s way. A non-slip base ensures the sharpener stays firmly in position whilst in use. WATER SHARPENING (recommended): 1. Remove the clear guide, fill the recess under the ceramic wheel with water and replace guide. 2. Hold sharpener firmly on a flat surface. 3. Align your blade within the guide, slide the blade back and forth through the ceramic wheel 10 - 20 times from heel to tip (applying light pressure) until desired sharpness has been achieved. 4. Rinse and dry your knife thoroughly. 5. Sharpen twice a month (or to suit) to maintain the desired edge sharpness. DRY SHARPENING (quick) 1. Hold sharpener firmly on a flat surface. 2. Align your blade within the guide, slide the blade back and forth through the ceramic wheel 10 - 20 times from heel to tip (applying light pressure) until desired sharpness has been achieved. 3. Rinse and dry your knife thoroughly. 4. Sharpen twice a month (or to suit) to maintain the desired edge sharpness. We recommend that after 12-24 months, depending on the frequency of use, you change the ceramic sharpening wheel in order to maintain your knife’s cutting edge to a high standard. Replacement wheels are available in Robert Welch store.

Having recently bought a high quality (very expensive) Robert Welch (RW) knife, I wanted a sharpener to match.As many will know there's quite a choice of sharpeners out there.In the end, I chose RW's own as, logically, it should match the quality of their knives.Yes, I had taken note of some of the negative reviews. However, I'm pretty sure that some of these are, as is often the case, user error.I've read & applied the instructions carefully. The RW sharpener does a great job, used properly, and I've even managed to sharpen some scissors.You get what you pay for, usually, and this product isn't overpriced for its ease of use & performance.

I had my reservations, that this wouldn’t work, because I don’t have any Robert Welsh knives. However it works surprisingly well and feels extremely solid wile using it. It’s a little bit on the expensive side, but it’s well worth the money. My other sharpener lasted a few months but started to look and feel tired until it was no longer fit for purpose. This sharpener is very different in its exclusive design and won’t wear out like other sharpeners. When the sharpener stones wears out, you can buy a replacement stone.

Unlike the sharpeners which strip the metal from the blade this is a more sensible approach which mimics stone hand sharpening. The safety guard interferes with the knife travel at the handle end but it's no worse than the wear pattern from using a sharpening steel. Blunt knifes cause accidents so keeping yours sharp is a must. If you're not especially handy with a sharpening steel then this is an excellent alternative. In fact I now use my steels infrequently.

Very good little knife sharpener which gives me really good sharp knives. Tomatoes….no problem, very thin slices can now be cut but a warning here as the blades are now very sharp and I’ve learned to keep my fingers well out of the way.I like it.

I've been through lots of different sharpeners in my life and they've all proved absolutely useless - I always end up having to take my knives to the local cutlers. Now, first the first time I have a sharpener that's easy to use, very quick and produces fantastic results. I really highly recommend this product - if you need a sharpener don't wait get this one! Running a Robert Welch knife through the ceramic wheels of this device keeps the knife sharp and in good nick.I love my Robert Welch knives, and this sharpener keeps them in good shape. I don't get it out after every use of a knife, but when you're trying to slice a tomato and the skin doesn't give way immediately, this sharpener comes out of the drawer.A few gentle strokes through the ceramic wheel - after you've added water to the little reservoir - brings the blade back up to spec. I wouldn't be without it.
