I love coffee, and like many millions need to have my daily fix. Unfortunately, recently, I have found that I suffer from painful migraines if I skip a day consuming coffee, such has become my dependency.I order to cease this addition, I carried out my own research and stumbled across this rather excellent coffee substitute by 'BAMBU', that ticks all relevant boxes.It tastes a little like coffee, and there is a discernible difference, but the most important factor is that it has none of the side effects or drawbacks. It is full of natural ingredients, such as organic chicory, Turkish figs, malted barley, wheat, and Greek acorns, and contains no artificial substances. There are no harmful chemicals included in the manufacture and the product is GMO-free.The taste takes some getting used, but after a while grew on me. I still have to convince myself that I'm foregoing the superior taste of coffee, for something more conducive to my health in the long run. You are free to add other ingredients to improve the taste if you wish, and I do add some cinnamon. coconut and dandelion.My headaches have completely gone now and I suffer no adverse consequences any longer. I drink it day and night, and thanks to a low acidity level, never suffer from an upset stomach. No more caffeine to wreak havoc on my body any longer.At only £ 6.44 for a 200gm jar under the 'Subscribe & Save' scheme this is really excellent value. I would wholeheartedly endorse this product to anyone looking for a healthier coffee derivative and substitute. I enjoy coffee and have no intention of giving it up entirely but I needed something to drink in the evening that wouldn't agitate my brain or make me visit the loo more often. I had got into the habit of taking decaffeinated coffee in the afternoon but often find myself taking the Bambu instead. It is a more pleasant taste than plain chicory and doesn't clog together with moisture over time as I have found chicory to do. The proof of my satisfaction with this drink is that this is my second order and it will become a regular buy.

This is described as a coffee substitute and I think this is misleading as it has no resemblance to the coffee flavour whatsoever.It is a caffeine free drink which one makes in the same way as one makes instant coffee and it has a mild, pleasant flavour. I used to drink Barley Cup but this has very little flavour at all but is very much cheaper.

This is a nice hot drink and a good alternative to coffee. I bought it to have as an evening drink for when it's too late for caffeine. Out of all the coffee alternatives I've tried on Bolo this one is the most coffee like but you can still tell it's not real coffee. It says on the jar to use 1 teaspoon per cup but I think they mean small cups because when I made it in a mug using that amount it was too weak and I had to add another teaspoon so for a mug you need 2 teaspoons for it to be a good strength. Just like coffee I like this black with no sugar. When I tried this with coffee mate it became much more obvious that I wasn't drinking real coffee. This is better than Barleycup but also more expensive so I won't be buying it very often even though it's the most coffee like out of all the coffee alternatives I've tried. I would recommend this to anyone who want's a coffee like drink that can be enjoyed at any time of day.

Trying this product for the first time and am not disappointed. Refreshing, creamy and tasty and caffeine free this is a alternative to coffee .Absolutely loved it , recommended

I'm a hardened coffee drinker. Just one a day but don't like to function without it. And not just any old instant coffee. I like Lavazza espresso as a caffelatte or as instant it has to be Douwe Egberts and nothing else. I won't have anything else. I only have one a day but it's my starter for the day. I have health reasons for wanting to cut down caffeine where I can and over the years had tried alternatives to coffee a few times. Barleycup, a Chicory alternative that I can't remember the name of that everyone was raving about and other stuff. Suffice to say I couldn't bear them and they all ended up in the bin (and they're not cheap either.) I read the reviews for this one after a friend of mine said she used to have Bambu many years ago but hadn't had it for aeons. She said it was the best she'd tried. The reviews are so good that I thought I'd give it a shot and here I sit with my first mug of it. I mixed in some cold milk to the powder in the bottom of the mug, (I always do this with my coffee as to me it tastes creamier than putting water straight in.) Then I added the water and then I drizzled a bit of cream on top on the back of a spoon. (Just as I do with my Douwe Egberts.) I took the first sip and couldn't believe it. I'm getting such a similar sense of my drink as I do with my coffee first thing in the day. I'm not sitting here thinking "Yuk, this is an alternative." I'm just drinking it down and enjoying it. I really am gobsmacked as I honestly believed I'd never find a drink that I would enjoy to help me minimise my caffeine intake. If you are sceptical about alternatives too, give this one a go. I've tried several and this one will not be thrown straight in the bin, but rather enjoyed.

As an inveterate coffee lover, my hopes weren't high that this (or anything) would make a convincing and satisfying substitute. But I was pleasantly surprised. I still drink some of the 'real' stuff, but this makes an excellent stand-in, in my view.

I like this product very much. Had bought Postum as a substitute but I like Bambu much better. It dissolves much better then the postum did and the taste is great. I will certainly be buying more in the near future.

Nice coffee alternative

Nice mild flavor. Doesn't necessarily taste like standard coffee, but neither do most flavored coffees with cream. I bought to stop drinking caffeinated coffee which was causing health problems, such as acid reflux at night and interfering with my thyroid medicine. I noticed an improvement in about 2 weeks.

If you're trying to kick the coffee/caffeine this is a good alternative. The taste reminds me a bit of the old Sanka! Husband loves it.
