5.0 out of 5 stars So very happy with these speakers!
For years I've been using a fantastic pair of 500w JBL speakers, which, though fantastic, weigh more than 25kg each. Sadly I'm not 19 any more, and I needed something more portable. A recommendation from a friend led me to these - and what brilliant speakers they are. The massive JBLs haven't left the cupboard in months as these speakers are versatile enough for every gig I've done since buying them.Firstly, don't worry about the wattage. These speakers are loud. My most recent use of them was at an event for very young children and their parents. We had a large marquee with about 150 screaming toddlers, and I still didn't need to take them above 60% or so. If you're looking for a fixed installation in a large venue, you won't even be reading this review. If, meanwhile you need something big enough for a pub / bar gig, or a wedding, or a folk club, or a church, or a school hall, or anything else like that, these are plenty loud enough.Sound-wise, they're very clear and transparent sounding. Possibly a little too transparent for some musicians I've put through it! But that's what reverb was invented for... Recently I had the very great pleasure of doing sound for a brilliant Senegalese kora player, and it felt like I could hear every nuance of his performance really clearly. Similarly, strings sound rich and warm, winds sound vibrant and punchy - exactly like they do unamplified - just louder. I was a bit concerned about low end, and that is the compromise for having smaller speakers. It's not at all bad though - the bottom octave of a piano still sounds thunderous. You should probably put a bass guitar through a bass amp - but you'd probably do that anyway, even with much bigger speakers. Some reviews mention noise - but there's no such thing as a totally silent PA. This is more than adequate, and a lot quieter than many others that I've used. Chances are if you are getting a buzz it'll be coming from somewhere else in the signal path. I've not heard anything even close to being problematic. And the best thing of all is that they weigh <8kg. You could put them up and take them down 10 times a day. My small and delicate bandmate who refused to even touch the JBLs will happily have one of these in each hand. And like many well designed small speakers, they can rock back on their sides and do a great job as a powered monitor.Behringer do still get a bad rap, but 9 times out of 10 it's jsut snobbery. These sound like high end speakers, and they're a fraction of the price. They're well designed, versatile, portable and feel like they'll take whatever I throw at them. I can't think why you'd spend more.
5.0 out of 5 stars So much better than the price suggests
I waited six months to review these speakers (I bought two) because I could not believe at first how good they are. I have used them as the final stage of a PA system in rooms ranging from a large living room to the gig that finally convinced me, a hall licensed for 300. The hall was actually set up as a craft market, with punters wandering about and talking amongst themselves while the performers provided entertainment to a sort of cafe area in front of the stage and background music to the rest of the room. It's hard to think of a worse arrangement from a sound quality point of view, but these speakers provided crystal clarity to all corners. They managed to achieve the apparently impossible; they were plenty loud enough when heard from the back of the room, but they didn't blow the heads off the people at the front. Magic! And here's the thing - they were only turned up to 6 on a scale of 1 to 10.They are light (my wife, who is quite petite, casually picks them up and carries them one in each hand), reasonably robust as far as I can tell, and they have a really good signal to noise ratio. You can use them upright, on the ground or on a stand, or in wedge position as monitors. Their only weak point, and I so wish that Behringer hadn't done this, is the three unrecessed knobs for level and basic EQ. I haven't done it yet, but it would be horribly easy to break them off on a doorframe or something while carrying the speakers by their (really good) handles. Please, Behringer - recess them in the Mk.II version. One other quibble - the supplied power lead is too short. At least it's cheap and easy to replace it (standard 'kettle' plug).UPDATE IN MAY 2017 - three years on and going strong. We have bought something more powerful for front-of-house and 'demoted' these to stage monitors where they continue to do an excellent job. The exteriors are a bit scuffed and knocked about by now, but otherwise they still play like new.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great monitors for DJs
I've been using these speakers for almost 2 years. That has been 2 years very heavy use, played almost daily and transported a lot. They still sound bloody great and I'm still loving them. The sound is very crisp and surprisingly decent for the price range although lacking the very bottom end (I would love to get a wee sub for the system) The only time I've noticed a sort of lack with the sound was after putting them on after listening to a Funktion 1 system all night. The highs are brilliant with a lot of power behind them (I usually have to turn them down on the built in EQ) For DJ booth monitors these do the job and have better sound than half the booth monitors I've used in my time. For small-medium parties they can do the job as well. With two of these babies pumping in a decent sized room you still get a noticeable chest thump with the bass, although as crowd increases the need for a sub does too of course.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them however I must say my friend bought the smaller 8" model (b28d eurolive 200w I believe) and has had nothing but problems with it out the box! Given my experience I think this must be a faulty model or the smaller range aren't as well built as I've nothing short of abused mine and they are still working great. She had nothing but problems getting it replaced but I think that comes down to the seller rather than Behringer. I highly recommend these speakers but make sure you get them from a reputable seller just in case you have any problems. As far as I can tell my friends negative experience with them seems to be the exception.
très bon amplificateur
Super bonne qualité, la puissance est là. Très bon rapport qualité/prix et surtout très efficace
Excellent Sound quality
EXCELLENT, AND AMAZING SOUND QUALITY, I USED PAST 1YEAR, NOW IT IS OK AND SOUND QUALITY EXCELLENT, BUT , IF YOU REQUIRED HEAVY SOUND, BY ITS HEAVY WATTES LIKE 1000WATT AND 15 INCH SPEAKER
10" little monster active speaker.
Fantastic 10" powered speaker.
Sounds GREAT alone, but with a added subwoofer it is even BETTER
This speaker is a built pretty solid. The sound is loud and clear. In the back there are knobs to adjust the bass, highs and volume. It sounds okay like this but is missing the really deep lows so I ended up buying a Polk PSW10 10" powered subwoofer from Bolo when it went down to $88. when hooked up together the sound is much fully and adds a wow effect. I tune volume the sub according to the music I play and put the subwoofer crossover knob in the middle so its not to boomy. I bought the GLS Audio 10 Foot Guitar Instrument Cable - 1/4 Inch TS to 1/4 Inch TS 10-FT and a HOSA 1/4" TRS to 3.5mm stereo adapter. This is what I use to connect the speaker to my iphone. To connect the speaker to the subwoofer, I use a RCA to XLR adapter connected to a XLR microphone cord. The RCA R&L goes into the subwoofer and the other end into the speaker output. Kind of like a daisy chain as they call it. It takes a little tweaking to get the sound just right but it's not hard as you just turn the little knobs in the back of the PA Speaker and Subwoofer until you are satisfied with the results. I will be adding in a mixer when using for karaoke and this will allow me to have more control once all is hooked up. This is good for home style karaoke parties or to watch movies. Without the subwoofer it is only okay. I also have the Behringer B215D 15" powered speaker which is the same but in a larger speaker size. This sounds good by itself for outdoor music but a subwoofer will also fill out the lows, If you are having trouble with your sound not coming out of your speaker, it could be the cable you are using. If you use a 1/4" TRS cable both ends into the 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter, the sound may come out only if you pull the cable 1/2 way out. If you use the same 1/4" TRS cable to a 3.5mm to 1/4" L&R splitter adapter, you have to connect the 1/4" TRS to the LEFT side only to get sound. The RIGHT side of the Y splitter did not produce sound. Hope this helps. Here is some of the cables I used with this hookup.Hosa MHE-100.5 1/4 inch TRS to Right-Angle 3.5 mm TRS Headphone Adaptor Cable, 6 inchGLS Audio 10 Foot Guitar Instrument Cable - 1/4 Inch TS to 1/4 Inch TS 10-FT Brown Yellow Tweed Cloth Jacket - 10 Feet Pro Cord 10' Phono 6.3mm - SINGLEBesYee 3.5mm (Mini) 1/8" TRS Stereo Male to 2 Dual 1/4 Inch 6.35mm Mono TS Female Y Splitter Cable 20cm/8inch (35M-2x635FM) If using this cable with a TRS 1/4" cable, use the left side and not the right.
