It is seriously like fur, hasn't got much body to it although it is quite dense. I use this perming solution to give my hair loads of body with added style, and it works great for me. However, from experience, it can be easy to mess it up - for example if you leave the perming solution on your hair too long, it will fry your hair into crispy noodles. If you don't leave it long enough, curls will not hold for very long. However, there are ways to avoid all of this.For best results here are some tips:- Make sure your hair is clean before applying, using a PH-neutral shampoo, and don't condition. It may be best to use the Pin-Up clearing shampoo, however I have used this in the past and I don't find it is totally necessary. Baby shampoo works fine for me prior to perming.- After washing, use the Pin-Up Pre-Perm spray - this IS totally necessary, it helps a LOT to make your curls hold and avoid being frizzy or melted. It really, really helps:Pin up Pre Perm Spray 150ml- Don't start applying any the perming solution until you have all the rollers in place, this way you can ensure they are all evenly curly.- after perming, and washing out the perming solution, use the Pre-perm spray again. This will massively help your hair to recover properly and stay curly.- Don't wash your hair for a few days (like 3 days) after perming.The way you treat your hair after perming will really affect how healthy it looks and how well the curls hold. Here are maintenance tips:- Switch your shampoo - find one without any SLS (sodium laureth sulphate) and always condition. For best results, try a cleansing conditioner such as Wen, Hair One or palmer's:Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula Co-Wash Cleansing Conditioner 473ml- don't blow dry your hair anymore. Gently pat dry with a towel, and allow it to air dry. This avoids frizz, and blow-drying with heat can cause the hair to straighten.- Use the pre-perm spray after. every. wash. This stuff is amazing at keeping the curls healthy.- I also don't brush my hair until it is completely dry. The curls tend to form as the hair dries naturally, so it doesn't get too messy anyway. Brushing it before it is dry tends to undo the curls over time.If you get bored of the curls and want your hair to be straight again, just continue to condition heavily, begin blow-drying after washing and stop using the pre-perm spray after washing. Your curls will come undone after a few weeks.Pics included show hair before and after perming (after perming is also henna'd)

I've been using this perm for 6 years, I perm once a year , I've very long fine hair, I perm for volume, I opted for smaller rollers this time, I usually use bendy ones, I used reds with purple & didn't follow a set pattern just made sure all sections were the right size for the rollers. I like it to look a mess & I'm super chuffed with this times result. It's jumped up loads more too , shall give it a week and then chop in some layers. If you use it correctly it's an excellent perm solution also used on 2 other people & both results were great.I dry mine between after the rinsing prior to neutralising. With the diffuser on the hariirdress . I add 2 minutes to rinsing & neutralising too & I don't re perm until I only have perm left in the last 3 inches. Bit disappointed the price had doubled & a week later its on offer but great non the less .

Was very unsure about using this perm as I have always used poly foam perm but as they seem unavailable now needs must and my hair needed a body boost for Christmas went by the directions didn’t find a bad perm smell to be honest easy to follow instructions now in heat rollers for 30 minutes but must admit very pleased with what I see I trimmed ends before and after perm and I have shoulder length hair so used full head I used it for body and that’s exactly what I have noticed the pin up perm has been in existence for 45 years must admit kept looking at the box thinking should I take the chance but really glad I did

If you're planning on trying a perm *PLEASE READ* this review, maybe you'll change your mind!! I have thick blonde hair which is pretty long- about half way down my back. I tend to wave it most of the time but got a bit bored of doing so. After reading about body wave perms, digital wave perms and looking at lots of online reviews I decided to go for it and buy this perming kit. My hair is pretty resilient normally and so I figured it was worth a try to save me constantly waving my hair! I followed the instructions and left the perm solution on for the shortest time advised. The instructions tell you to check your curls regularly and look for an s-wave. Herein lies my first issue- despite following the instructions carefully, the s-wave never appeared. But my hair started to look a little frazzled. It actually snapped off in some places, so I quickly proceeded with the neutraliser. Again, I followed the instructions but still, I had no curls. What I did have was stringy stretchy hair which snapped off every time I touched it. I rinsed, deep conditioned to try and rescue my hair but it didn't help, it still felt like candy floss. I followed immediately with an aphogee protein treatment which thankfully has helped but I have lost a lot of hair! As we're under lockdown, I can't go to get it fixed. I've had to cut a long fringe in as the front is totally fried. I'm now going to need to see how it is in a day or so to see if I need to cut more off. I know this company have a longstanding reputation so perhaps the solution just wasn't suited to my hair type, but please if you are considering this as an option *wait until the salons reopen*. Don't be an idiot and ruin your hair like I did 😂

This product works, for a few weeks. After about 3 weeks the curls wouldn’t hold, and I don’t think I’ll purchase this again. Don’t buy.

First time ever doing a perm and was very nervous to damage my hair (late 20s and never even dyed my hair before!)I research rod sizes and now have had gorgeous beachy waves for 5 weeks. Can see they're juuuuust dropping slightly now but honestly it's brilliant. The solution took about 3 hrs to apply but for weeks of easy hair maintenance after, absolutely brilliant. Was a little drying on my hair for first couple weeks but kept up with conditioner spray each day and feels like my hair is as healthy as it's always been now! Definitely will be buying again once it falls out!

I did not like this perm. I thought it would do a better job than it did.

It did not leave any curl in my hair as I expected.I was really disappointed as I picked his one from many on Bolo. The neutralizer bottle was way to squeeze and the foam did not cover the hair completely.
