Description:
The Kyūshū J7W1 Shinden "Magnificent Lightning" fighter was a World War II Japanese propeller-driven aircraft prototype that was built in a canard design. The wings were attached to the tail section and stabilizers were on the front. The propeller was also in the rear, in a pusher configuration. It was expected to be a highly maneuverable interceptor, but only two were finished before the end of war. Plans were also drawn up for a jet-powered version (J7W2 Shinden-Kai), but this never left the drawing board. The J designation was used by land based fighters of the Imperial Japanese Navy and the W is for Watanabe, the company awarded the contract (though the factory changed its name in 1943 to Kyūshū). Arrived way ahead of predicted time !! Fascinating looking aircraft, it should build into a nice model . It has unfortunately got raised panel lines which shows the age of the kit .

Although this is one of the "might have happened" aircraft of WW2, you can't fault Hasegawa and their injection moulding techniques.The model has very crisp lines, with no flash lines on any of the components. Fit - as always - is exceptional, and I have Hasegawa tied for first place with Tamiya on build quality...although in fairness a number of manufacturers are starting to catch up (Airfix included).If you can find the conversion kit to make this a jet - powered version, buy two and have some fun!

The way it was packaged,no protective box,just a label stuck on it,luckily the kit itself was undamaged,kit looks ok,not built it yet

Very basic detail with raised panel lines. Very soft detail on pilot. Only game in town for this type. Only 2 airframes were ever built so you're hampered before you start.

The kit looks very nice, detailed panel lines and clear canopy. Good instructions too. However, it arrived with no packaging- just the box (only taped close one side) with a delivery sticker on the cover (luckily i don't keep box art). The boxes corners were dented, however the sprues and decals undamaged.
