Bought this controller in desperation because the fan itself (also Westinghouse) made a gentle but noticeable "humming" noise, especially on the lowest speed setting (even when brand new, and even when not actually turning). Because this device regulates the speed in a different way to the three-speed pull-chain switch, it has managed to silence the hum and allow me to sleep with the fan on! The lowest speed is also a little slower than the slowest setting on the pull-chain switch, so that is an additional bonus.Some reviewers have mentioned the "odd" configuration of the settings (0 - 4 - 3 -2 - 1 instead of 0 - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4). This is actually for a good technical reason - fans, like any machinery, take more effort to *start* moving than to *keep* moving. Going from 0 to 1 might result in the fan "stalling" and not turning at all, which might damage the fan or controller. Forcing the switch to pass through maximum speed, even if only briefly, avoids this.Another reviewer also suggested that, since this switch has four speeds, it's not compatible with three-speed fans. Rest assured that it is, you just set the fan's own switch to maximum speed and this device regulates the power to it.On the downside, it does feel a bit "flimsy" and I don't know how durable it will be, but given how rarely a fan is needed in the UK, I expect it will be fine.

I wanted my fan light switched from the normal light socket and this controller near the fan itself to adjust the speed.The controller is very deep. It required a minimum of a 35mm back-box. That left very little room at the back of the box for wires and I would say the ideal is 40mm, which of course is a size you can't buy. I opted for a 47mm box. You could just sink a 35mm box in say 5mm more and that would be just fine.Only requires a standard two core plus earth, 1.5mm2. A little confusing because it refers to the live supply as "hot". So connect the live supply wire to the terminal marked "hot" ! The other of course runs to the fan.If you fan has only a single supply it may be necessary to split off the light supply and route that independently, as I did. With Westinghouse that's usually orange or bright red.The controller works pretty well but isn't perfect. I suspect it makes a difference as to what fan you match it with but in my case mine is a low wattage fan and so setting "1" and "2" are almost the same speed. There is a difference but you would never notice from the breeze. A little disappointing, but I suppose to be expected. It probably works perfectly with the higher power fans though. Mine is the Westinghouse Jet.I have bought two of these and the original one the knob kept falling off. It seems though that they have fixed this problem, the latest one the knob is much tighter. That's enough of a reason for me to replace the first one I bought with another new one.Works well so a strong recommendation.

Bought this to replace a control that must've been installed in the 80s which was huge and didn't look good in our new house, this one is slimline and looks the part and controls our fan same as the old one. I fitted this myself but if you don't know much about electrics get a professional to install it. Fits tightly into a fastfix single dry lining box

Beware ! This control unit has FOUR operating speeds. It will not work if your Westinghouse fan has only THREE speeds!Check you fan before you buy.

Thought this would provide 4 speed control for a window fan, but Off-On and just a slight reduction in power (maybe just 20% less) is available. Also screws provided are too tight for my patress box and had to use alternative retaining screws with looser threads. Having struggled to get the switch into the ceiling, I can't be bothered to change it for an on-off switch originally fitted.

This is a great switch, it came with a ceiling fan that I have had for about 10 years and then I bought another, same model but updated, and the 5-speed switch for the new fan is scary fast, at setting 1 on the new switch, is like setting 3-4 on the old switch, and anything higher on the new switch seems flat out dangerous, very happy I found this switch. As for the seller, I live in the Philippines and everything you order seems to take weeks and even months to get, this seller sent it out the same day I ordered and I received the package in under a week, a freaking miracle for here, will definitely recommend this seller. Thanks

Spedizione velocissima (ricevuto in meno di 24 ore).Il dispositivo funziona correttamente.La potenza del motore da controllare deve essere compresa tra 15W e 100W (indicato sull'etichetta posta sul retro del dispositivo).La regolazione della velocità avviene abbassando la tensione di alimentazione del motore tramite l'inserzione in serie di condensatori di diversa capacità. In questo specifico caso il dispositivo contiene 1 condensatore da 1,5uF ed uno da 2uF.Poiché i valori dei condensatori sono, ovviamente, fissi, le velocità parziali dipendono anche dalle caratteristiche del motore da controllare (diciamo dalla potenza).Nel mio caso il motore è da circa 100W, perciò il regolatore va benissimo.Rispetto ad un regolatore a semiconduttori presenta il vantaggio di non generare correnti armoniche che portano a rumore magnetico anche alle basse velocità. Per contro sono possibili solo 4 velocità e non una regolazione continua.Purtroppo la placca è quadrata, perciò non compatibile con lo standard italiano, così ho smontato il dispositivo, tagliato ed incollato il retro del contenitore ad una normale placca cieca, ovviamente dopo aver effettuato il foro per l'alberino della manopola.In allegato un paio di foto.

Buen diseño y buena relación calidad precio.

Lo mejor diseño y calidad y lo peor el orden de las distintas velocidades pues van en sentido contrario la más baja es el número 4 y conforme bajas el número, aumenta la velocidad.

Un petit défaut dans le premier exemplaire reçu, une des vis tournait dans le vide. Produit retourné et remplacé très rapidement. Le deuxième fonctionne très bien.
