However, I have used it as pre-electric shave lotion and it works perfectly well - maybe even better than the Pre-electric Shave Lotion. It has a sophisticated perfume and the slightly less volatile solution seems to lubricate my stubble very well and In am assured of a close shave.

I’ve used Speick Men After Shave Lotion for a few weeks now, and while I wouldn’t call it perfect, it’s certainly a cut above many others I’ve tried over the years. First off, the overall experience of using this aftershave is genuinely refreshing—especially after a close wet shave. It wakes up the skin with a gentle sting and a clean, cooling finish, and the scent lingers subtly throughout the morning. There’s a feeling of “old-world pharmacy” to this product that I really enjoy. The glass bottle adds to the charm too, giving it a more traditional, apothecary-like feel, which I prefer to plastic dispensers.I’ve tested it thoroughly under various shaving conditions. After a proper wet shave using a double-edge safety razor, it performed beautifully. There was a clean sensation, no post-shave irritation, and my skin felt balanced rather than tight or oily. For those who use quality shaving soaps or creams, you’ll find this lotion complements that old-school approach really well. It soothes any small nicks or abrasions without overwhelming your senses with alcohol burn—though be aware, the alcohol content is present, so if your skin is extremely reactive, patch testing is wise.During a dry electric shave, the results were a bit more mixed. The lotion still left a clean finish, but it didn’t seem to deliver the same depth of moisturisation or cooling relief compared to a wet shave. I suspect this has something to do with the alcohol evaporating too quickly before it has a chance to lock in the benefits from the other ingredients. However, it still left the skin toned and smooth with no flaking or redness, which is a strong plus. I also tried it after a quick shave with a cartridge razor and foam gel in a rush situation. Here too, it held its own. It cut down on inflammation on the neck, where I usually get razor bumps, and it didn’t interfere with any follow-up moisturiser I applied afterward.What sets Speick apart for me is the formulation. The inclusion of witch hazel is a winner—if you’re someone who struggles with redness, enlarged pores or irritation, this is a natural astringent that calms things down. The menthol and camphor combo gives a satisfying hit of coolness, and it’s this tingle that really delivers that ‘wake-up’ factor. It’s subtle, not eye-watering, and it doesn’t sting unless you’ve really gone to town with the blade. Lavender oil and citrus peel also round off the scent in a clean, herbal, masculine way that doesn’t clash with other colognes or fragrances.Now, for those with sensitive skin: this lotion walks a careful line. The alcohol might be too much for some, but the inclusion of sorbitol, glucose and mannitol—humectants that draw moisture into the skin—help balance the dryness that alcohols can cause. Sorbitol in particular is a great moisturiser for reactive skin, and the formula’s support for the hydro-lipid barrier means it helps restore rather than strip. For everyone else though, they contribute to the scent beautifully and make this more than just a functional product—it’s actually pleasurable to use.What I appreciate is that the Speick extract itself is sourced from the high alpine plant Valeriana Celtica, and it’s organically harvested. That’s not something you often see in grooming products at this price point, and it adds a layer of quality that’s hard to find outside high-end niche brands. This botanical infusion gives it a unique aroma and skin-calming characteristic that’s hard to quantify but clearly present.To put it through its paces, I tested it over a period of two weeks in the following scenarios: post-safety razor shave, electric dry shave, cartridge gel shave, and even after trimming with a beard trimmer just to tidy up. In each case, it worked—never spectacularly dramatic, but always reliably soothing. I also tested it during a period of colder, dryer weather when my skin tends to get tight, and found that while it didn't replace a proper moisturiser, it didn’t worsen dryness either. It’s not greasy, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave behind any film.One clever trick for those with very sensitive skin is to apply a light layer of moisturiser or balm first, then pat on the Speick aftershave—this buffers the alcohol impact while still letting the menthol and other actives do their job. Alternatively, if you want a stronger astringent effect, use it immediately after a cold water rinse post-shave. It tightens and tones well.Why four stars and not five? The simple answer is that it doesn’t always match up to more hydrating balms in terms of comfort, especially in winter or for those with particularly dry skin. Its astringent properties are effective but can feel slightly sharp at times. The other issue is that while the scent is clean and natural, it may not be bold or complex enough for some who are used to heavily perfumed aftershaves or colognes. It’s subtle and fleeting—which I personally like, but others might not.Overall, Speick Men After Shave Lotion is a solid, dependable, and refreshingly classic product. It has a distinct identity, stays true to traditional formulation principles, and works across multiple shave types. For sensitive skin, it’s cautiously suitable—though those with fragrance sensitivities should be wary of some of the naturally occurring allergens. With a balance of natural ingredients, smart formulation, and that brisk post-shave feel, it’s a pleasure to use and earns its place in my rotation. A strong four-star performer, particularly for those who appreciate old-school grooming done right.

Lovely herby, manly smell. And its very cheap.I found this to be very soothing after my very close shave with a DE safety razor.I will buy it again as it is a very good natural product and sooths your skin after a close shave.I would recommend it to anyone.Great to use after the Speick shave cream. A must have for a mans shaving kit.Far better than the run of the mill designer products which are over priced and most of your purchase price goes on advertising.Buy it and you will be impressed..

One of my favourite aftershaves. It's Cheap, lightly scented and does the job well. When applied it is non sticky and has a very refreshing feel to the face, it contains alum which I don't usually like, because its drying on its own. The scent has a lavender note (but not like your grandmas perfume) this doesn't last more than a few minutes though. The 'Speick active' version has a citrus/lemon scent to it, so feels better suited to the summer months.

Great on the skin. Really lived up to the promise of the list of ingredients ... Which really does look like it's all natural stuff. The smell is a little old-mannish, but as with other dedicated AS splashes, it doesn't last more than about an hour, so you'll be using an EDT for fragrance anyway. Will buy again.

This aftershave really is excellent. I've bought several bottles over the last few years, and with good reason. At heart this is obviously still an alcohol based aftershave, so you will run into all the concerns of it drying your skin etc. That said I've never experienced drying with any alcohol based AS. It will depend on your skin type but my combination skin doesn't complain.Moving onto the positives, it smells great, a nice fresh scent that won't really clash with anything else. But most importantly it really finishes your shave well. The alcohol and alum reduce any redness or razor burn, the lavender and witch hazel and speick extract look after your skin. There is a reason this gets so many good reviews.

He probado otros con witch hazel y este no destaca. Tampoco entiendo por qué se dice que es importado de Japón cuando en realidad es alemán.

I've gone through a fair share of after shaves which range in price from a few dollars to a few hundred but they either burn too much and leave residues on my skin, a poor smell or just not do anything for damaged skin.Speick's has a light pleasant smell that doesn't last (which is preferable), does not leave a residue, is refreshing and helps with any cuts or abrasions.

Je me rase au DE, et ayant une peau sensible je suis plutôt orienté baumes, mais cet after shave est vraiment spécial ! J'aime particulièrement l'utiliser en été - en hiver, les baumes me conviennent mieux. Il se caractérise par son parfum à la fois fort et doux, très frais, très volatile, a des kilometres de ce que vous pouvez trouver dans votre grande surface habituelle, et la sensation de fraîcheur qu'y de douceur ui apparaît en quelques instants est remarquable. Aucune irritation ni rougeur, une peau lisse et douce, et une belle journée qui commence !

Fresca, estimulante y discreta.

Este es uno de mis after shave preferidos.Posee un aroma fresco y agradable que se atenúa al poco de haberlo usado y no interfiere con la colonia o perfume que pienses emplear ese día.Deja la piel tonificada y cierra los poros. Anque si es necesario emplear un gel o bálsamo para hidratar la cara.Esta es mi 4a botella de la marca y la compré para tenerla de stock, ya que recién terminé la tercera y no quería quedarme sin reservas.
