Great price and easy to use. A premixed handy pkt with 4 to 6 servings depending on taste and strength that you like. Easy to make with the recipe and required ingredients on the rear or inside box for those using it for the first time. Shan masala mixes are great to use and ready to use straight from the packet and will keep in the cupboard. Handy when relatives visit unannounced and saves you getting the grinder out.

I didn't buy this here on Bolo. You can pick it up for a quarter of the price in your local - i don't know what to call them - Asian shop.Flavour wise, this is a brill spice mix, never disappoints and much more convenient than buying individual spices to combine later. That said, if you want to make a curry/dahl thats unique to you, then this isn't the product for you. You are better off buying individual ingredients and making your own spice mix.

The media could not be loaded. My sister in Abu Dhabi recommended this to me. I used fava beans and dhal and after about 50 minutes I had the most delicious flavoured beans that I have ever cooked! I enjoy spicy food so I also added a whole chilli and found the spice just right for me. I used about 3 teaspoons of curry powder.

I wouldnt have purchased had I known about the salt content. 62percent is a joke really. If you use a tablesspoon, you are using more tha the daily recommended amount. For people with hypertension its beyond dangerous.

This is great almost magical but not quite. Its a little salty and can be a bit over spicy if you dont do it correctly. Overall i love it, its not a 5 start but 4 is good enough for me

Spice up your dal with Shan Dal Masala

Dal Masala by Shan has an ultimate flavor and imparts great taste to almost anything you make out of Toor or chana dal. It's a raw blend (spices bluntly ground and not a complete powder) of all the spices we Indians use in the "tarka" and hence I use this masala while giving tarka to various dals. Dal fry is the best one when added with this masala. Great taste. And a must buy! And can be used almost everywhere!

I love this masala, using it in dal following exactly the Shan's recipe, excellent taste. Bolo bring back Shan products, Most of the products are missing from Bolo, why?
