This jar looked splendid on a party buffet table, and aroused a lot of interest. To my taste it was too vinegary and I could not detect any hint of cognac. However, other guests did enjoy it.

There is no clear way to open it, you scratch the wax off and theres no tab and no way to get leverage to open it. I tried a corkscrew and it just ended up forcing the cork into the half empty jar contaminating the food and being hard to get out. It's not even french mustard it's wholegrain mustard with lots of bits its not smoothly blended like french mustard should be. Waste of a tenner. I only bought because morrisons stopped doing french mustard, Asda is only place left I have found it otherwise.

Cannot really do a review on the contents as bought as a present, however the jar itself looks quite impressive and a decent price. Only issue was that the wax seal had been chipped around the edge and fell out all over the floor when I attempted to open the packaging. Item had been wrapped in bubble wrap, but then dispatched in a jiffy bag rather than a box which might have offered more protection. Not really the products fault and am sure the contents will be fine. Overall though would purchase again as good price and quick delivery time.

Lovely mustard, chancy jar
I very much like the unique taste. Very full and kind of velvety while being bold. My only warning is about the packaging. The jar is closed with a natural cork that is fitted flush with the rim. It leaks easily. The first jar sent to me leaked so much that the post office declined to deliver it. The second jar came by UPS. It, too, had leaked, but not so badly. It's the only downside.Tip for opening: After removing the wax seal, use the tip of a sharp pocket knife to lever up the cork at two or three places.
