This is the second such teapot that I've had - this being a slightly different version of the first one I was given and that lasted me 3-4 years.I use mine daily and one heaped teaspoon of loose leaf tea lasts me throughout the day in this fantastic gadget, making 5-6 cups of tea before it is too weak for me to enjoy.The beauty of this teapot is that the leaves don't sit in any leftover water in between cups - the clever design means all the water drains out of the bottom of the pot direct into your mug, leaving the tea leaves ready for the next refill of hot water, as fresh as the first cup.Although loose leaf tea may cost more this is such an economical way to drink good quality tea of interesting varieties throughout the day. It's incredible to see the size the leaves have unfurled to by the end of the day!The pot is easy enough to clean - knock the damp leaves into the bin - or compost bin - and give it a swill with water. It xanbe taken apart and put in the dishwasher or soaked in Miltons Liquid occasionally.I'll never use a tea bag in the house again - except for visitors who just want 'builder's tea'!

This is exactly what I was looking for to simplify making loose-leaf tea, and not having to mess around with infuser balls that keep leaking tea-leaves.It arrived promptly, although I found it a little ironic that the free sample teas were actually in teabags rather than loose leaf. Still I wasn't expecting them at all, so still a bonus!The seal at the bottom appears to be very good, I often walk around the house or leave it on my desk while brewing and it hasn't leaked a drop. I've not noticed the strainer popping up like other reviewers mentioned, either while pouring in water or while washing. Either I'm lucky or the design has been fixed.In fact, the only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is that it's not quite big enough to fit my favourite mug! The description included a 9.5cm size limit, so I knew that would be the case, but it's still a tiny bit disappointing. A judiciously placed teaspoon still triggers the mechanism even though it can't sit properly on my oversized mug though, so all is well.

Bought this to replace a We R Tea infuser our nephew bought us several years ago that had started to leak. This works exactly the same and is great. We kept the saucer from the previous model as that is the only thing missing from this version. Very handy for single person use or when making tea for two quickly. Loose tea gives far better flavour than bags and I think is more enviromentally friendly.

Works great and has good volume. Can be used over a cup or a tea pot. Can be taken apart to clean if necessary, rinsing is usually enough. Lid can be removed. We’re happy with it.

This Gravity kettle is a must for all those who view serving tea as an art. Watch the tea leaves diffuse taste and then just simply place the Teapot on the cup to see the tea in the cup.

A n'en pas douter il y a quelques choses de satisfaisant dans le fonctionnement de cette théière. Deux petits bémols le prix excessif et le fait qu'il soit entièrement en plastique et non en verre.

I can really find no negatives about this. If you're willing to have one more piece of "gear" for your tea making, this is great.It is so simple it almost belies a review! :) Put the strainer in the bottom (comes out for washing), put your tea in (loose leaf or in bags), pour boiling water in and let it brew. That's it.. using the handy (and cool) handle, place it on top of your cup and let the tea drain out, leaving the old leaves behind instead of in your cup. The tea automatically is released by a gravity-activated valve in the bottom of the Ingenuitea when you put it on the cup. Dump the old tea and rinse out the unit, and you're ready for another round.The unit is said to be microwaveable too, but we haven't tested that. That might be convenient especially at work or somewhere where you may not have a burner available. I've never made tea in a microwave so have no idea if it affects the quality of the tea.. whatever effect it has would be independent of this unit.The plastic in this unit is excellent food quality with no smells or tastes that I can detect, and the strainer is very fine so even fine teas don't go through. It is also dishwasher-safe.Only two even remotely critical things I can think of is there are no graduations on the pot so you can see how much water you add, and the teacup you use must fit inside the rim of the bottom of the Ingenuitea so that it will release the valve. I did note in the above video review that her unit apparently came with a resting coaster which would be handy.. mine did not have that :(It is kind of expensive for what it is, but it seems it will last essentially indefinitely as there are no "wear" parts. I bought this as a gift for my daughter who is a dedicated tea-drinker. (I use the boring old teabags, so I don't need one. I'd get one in a flash if I ever went to loose-leaf tea) There is a 32 oz version for only a couple of dollars more for those who make larger batches of tea.Edit June '13: My daughter told me that this broke about Feb of this year, so that means that this only lasted about 18 months..I will say that she used it a LOT, sometimes more than once a day, but I think not very good as it is priced VERY HIGH for basically a piece of plastic with a screen. You'll have to use your own judgement as to whether this is a good value by your standards.
