Rod Stewart's American Songbook CDs are revelations. He manages to take wonderful ballads and with his own magic turns them into something special. They are never cloying or overblown. Not a whiff of Las Vegas about it. He has sensitively kept to the original styles ie often Billie Holiday's phrasing is evident. When he includes other artists, they too keep it low key. The band/orchestra is superb. I don't hesitate recommending any of his American Songbook CDs. Just be careful you don't become addicted!

OMG I cannot stop listening to it. I have loved Rod 'The Mod' since Maggie May but this is the best. All the songs I remember my mum singing along to when I was a little girl so I found I knew alot of the words already. Just brill to sing along to.I have just ordered The Best of The Great American Song Book -The Great American Songbook Collection [4CD + DVD] cannot wait.What more can I say - JUST BRILLIANT dont hesitate.Great service and prices from Bolo too.

Cet album est EXCELLENT, il nous offre 13 succès du Grand répertoire de la chanson populaire américaine des années 1920 aux années 1960, tous interprétés par Rod Stewart et surtout reprises avec des orchestrations des années 2000, il y a 3 titres interprétés en duo par d’excellents chanteurs ou chanteuses. Tels que : Diana Ross, Elton John, Chaka Khan. Cette série comprend 5 volumes sortie de 2002 à 2010 et que j’ai l’a chance de posséder. Mais il y a une erreur d’impression sur le dos du boitier dans l’ordre chronologique des chansons, je possède 2 exemplaires de cet album et on y trouve la même erreur.
