I’ve personally tested it across a range of everyday tasks in our kitchen and utility areas, and while it’s far from flawless, it’s a highly respectable performer given its price. At under a pound (at time of writing), it's hard not to call it good value, but there are caveats depending on how you plan to use it.Performance-wise, the stiff nylon bristles are definitely a highlight. They strike a good balance: firm enough to tackle baked-on grime in roasting trays or crusty plates, yet not so aggressive that they damage most standard surfaces. I’ve used it on ceramic mugs, enamel pans, non-stick frying pans (lightly), and plastic chopping boards. It powered through sticky residues on glassware with ease, and even removed hardened oatmeal from a bowl that had sat overnight. The bristle spread is wide enough to cover surface area quickly, but not so bulky that it’s awkward in smaller cups or around the rim of saucepans.That said, it’s not a miracle worker — here are a few limitations I noticed. It’s not ideal for very tight bottle necks, slim flasks or detailed items like graters (you’ll need a smaller brush or a sponge for that). It doesn’t reach deep into tall vases or narrow wine glasses, and it struggles with scrubbing residue in small pan corners or grooved lids. If you’ve got heavy-duty burnt-on food, this brush might not give the torque or bristle density to fully lift it without soaking and follow-up.The built-in scraper on the back is a useful addition — it helped scrape off melted cheese from a baking tray and dried egg from a breakfast plate. It’s not as effective as a metal scourer or sponge, but for everyday gunk, it offers an extra edge without switching tools mid-wash.Ergonomically, the handle is basic plastic with a flat design and a small hook for hanging. It’s lightweight, and while not exactly “comfy”, I didn’t experience hand fatigue during a full round of washing up. If you have joint issues or need a thicker grip, you might want to look into a rubberised alternative. On the plus side, the slim profile makes it easy to store in a drawer or hang above the sink.Now, let’s talk long-term use and durability. Over several weeks of regular use, the bristles held their shape surprisingly well — no visible warping or splaying, even after tough scrubbing on baking trays. It's also easy to rinse and air dry. However, like most plastic-handled brushes, it can become a bit slippery if your hands are soapy, and over time the silver colour does wear off slightly from the edges — purely cosmetic, but worth noting.I’ve put this Addis Jumbo Washing Up Brush through quite a lot beyond just dishes, testing it in various cleaning jobs around the kitchen and home to see how versatile it really is. In terms of quality, the bristles are quite stiff and densely packed, which gives it an edge for most scrubbing tasks. They're made of nylon, which resists wear over time and doesn’t fray too quickly, even after weeks of use. The bristles also bounce back well and don’t flatten out like some cheaper brushes I’ve tried. Cleaning the brush itself is fairly straightforward — I rinse it thoroughly after each use, occasionally soak it in warm soapy water, and once a week I disinfect it by leaving it in a diluted vinegar solution for about 15 minutes to kill off any odour-causing bacteria.When using it to clean oven racks, it performed okay but required elbow grease, especially around baked-on grease. On microwave turntables, it worked very well, particularly around the edges and grooves. Cleaning up spills from ceramic hob tops was manageable, though I had to be gentle to avoid scratching the surface — it’s not a scratch-free brush, so caution is needed on sensitive finishes. It did a solid job cleaning plastic lunchboxes and lids, especially around the seal edges where grime builds up. When I used it on wooden chopping boards, it worked, but I had to go easier to avoid splintering or damaging the grain.It really impressed me when scrubbing silicone baking mats and trays — the bristles dug into the textured surface and removed greasy residue that sponges miss. It also cleaned up sink plugholes and metal baskets pretty effectively. For stainless steel surfaces like oven doors and splashbacks, it’s good for the frame or handles, but less ideal on the polished sections, which can show fine scratches. The brush was excellent at cleaning reusable coffee pods and their mesh filters, thanks to the tight bristle pattern. On tea-stained mugs, it worked better than sponges and lifted brown film off quite easily.I tried it on a tiled backsplash and while it removed oil and cooking splatter well, it struggled in grout lines, which were too narrow for the bristles to dig into properly. On stove knobs and behind the hob, it was handy — it reached tight spaces and scrubbed sticky oil film off plastic without damage. For food processor lids and blades, it did well, particularly around small grooves. I also used it on plastic outdoor chairs, and it helped lift algae from the surface after a few minutes of scrubbing. It wasn’t ideal for soft silicone baking moulds, where the bristles felt too harsh and risked tearing the silicone.Scrubbing reusable water bottles (wide-mouth types) was manageable, but anything narrower than a standard mug made it difficult to reach inside. On rubber or plastic shoe soles, it worked brilliantly, pulling out dried mud and stones. I even tested it on bicycle pedals and it cleaned off dust and grease better than a cloth. For radiator fins and metal grilles, it did okay with loose dust, but wasn’t fine enough to reach deep into the crevices. Lastly, it proved surprisingly useful on pet toys and rubber mats — it got into grooves and removed saliva and food bits without wearing down.In short, this brush is a solid, multi-purpose tool that shines in at least 70–80% of general cleaning situations. It has limits — mostly around delicate surfaces or very tight spaces — but its long handle, reliable bristles and built-in scraper make it great value. Just keep it clean and avoid heavy use on scratch-prone materials, and it should last a good while.This isn’t a premium kitchen tool, but it’s a remarkably effective and dependable basic. It’s a particularly good buy for students, rental kitchens, backup dishwashing kits, or even for camping trips or utility sink use. If you want deep scrubbing power, ergonomic comfort, or flexible brush heads, you’ll need to spend more. But if you need a general-purpose scrubber that can survive weeks of daily abuse for less than a quid, this Addis brush does more than you'd expect — just don’t ask it to do everything.

I recently bought the Addis Jumbo Washing Up Dish Brush after finally deciding to retire my old worn-out brush, and I have to say — I wish I’d swapped sooner. Addis is a brand I trust for affordable, solid everyday items, and this dish brush is another one of their dependable offerings.Straight away, the size stands out. The brush head is larger than standard dish brushes, which means you can scrub big plates, pans, and trays much quicker. The bristles are firm without being overly stiff — strong enough to scrub away stuck-on food without damaging non-stick coatings or more delicate surfaces. I’ve used it on everything from stainless steel saucepans to ceramic dishes, and it’s performed really well across the board.The ergonomic handle is another strong point. It’s a good, comfortable length that gives enough leverage for tackling tougher grime without tiring your hand. The handle has a slight curve and a smooth, easy-grip finish which stays comfortable even after a big washing-up session.The bristles have held up brilliantly after several weeks of daily use — no splaying, no loss of firmness, and no weird discolouration even after scrubbing tomato sauce pans and curry-stained plates. A quick rinse under hot water keeps it hygienic and fresh-looking. I also like that the brush dries quickly and doesn’t stay soggy or smell musty like sponges often can.Another bonus: there’s a handy little scraper built into the top edge of the brush. It’s perfect for flicking off baked-on food from roasting trays and casserole dishes without reaching for a separate tool. It’s a small touch, but it makes a real difference when you’re tackling stubborn bits.If I had one tiny criticism, it’s that the brush head is maybe a bit too chunky for getting inside very narrow glasses or bottles — but that’s hardly a fault given the ‘jumbo’ design, and Addis do make smaller brushes better suited for that.All in all, this is a fantastic, hard-wearing washing-up brush that’s well worth the money. When I opened the package I had to laugh, there's absolutely nothing 'jumbo' about these. They're tiny! BUT they do the job.There's plenty of bristles, they clean adequately, they're cheap... so they do the job they're meant to. I just wish the handle and grip section was a little longer
