Bought this when I heard the Ian Bairnston had passed. it is pure nostalgia. I knew this lovely man personally for a short while and now listen to this and happy that he has left such great memories behind.

A much underrated group who are mainly known for "Magic" and "January". This compilation shows that they were so much than a two hit wonder.

I long considered that "Pilot" offered serious musical craftsmanship, compared to their lightweight contemporaries in the (yukky) teeny-bopper era, ('BCR & The Osmonds' anyone?) Accordingly, I have all 4 of their released LP albums..but these are now 'scratchy.'"Anthology" is the best and most complete* compilation yet. This 22-song, US-made CD 'ticks a few (essential) boxes' that EMI's also 22-song CD, "A & Bs + Rarities" doesn't quite reach. Whilst 90%+ of Pilot's finest songs ARE present on both CD's, 'Anthology' reaches further..Did you like "Bad to me" on Pilot's "2nd Flight" album? - this song is included here. Also are 3 of the 4 best songs from the final (Arista recording) LP, "Two's A Crowd" ('Ten Feet Tall/Monday, Tuesday/Evil Eye') - *but "Library Door" is THE one glaring omission! Q. Why wasn't this gem also included, Renaissance Records?!PS. I sourced my 'Anthology' CD from the US; much cheaper (£4 + £1.26 postage) than I note here. Sound quality and career notes are good enough on both albums.

In my humble opinion, "Two's a Crowd" is the best "Pilot" album ever. In tracks as the classic "Library Door" you can literally foresee the things to come, that is the huge success (and quality) of the forthcoming "Alan Parsons Project". Small wonder: The sound technician of the album was Alan Parsons, and most musicians of "Pilot" later joined the musical staff of the "Alan Parsons Project".This is a real gem and was unavailable on CD for years. Don't hesitate to buy this album, now it is available. You won't regret it!

There is more to Pilot than the two famous hits 'Magic' and 'January' (in my opinion at least) as there are plenty of songs on here that are even more interesting.If you like bouncy, 70s pop/rock that makes you feel happy then this American collection will do it. I like David Paton's bass that propels it along and Ian Bairnson's creative guitar playing - not forgetting great support from Billy Lyall (keyboards)and Stuart Tosh (drums)on the early records. David Paton really reaches the high notes with his vocals so be prepared!This CD offers the songs that should have been hits as well, like 'Get up and Go' and 'Just a Smile' (I've got the review of the other compilation available to thank for this info!) and one of my favourites 'Ten feet tall'. I would have liked to have seen 'Library door' and David Paton's solo single 'No Ties No Strings' on this but I guess they can't always know what everyone wants!
Magical Collection of Pilot Tunes
I don't usually make a habit of writing product reviews, but must say I love this CD. While many may remember "Magic", I was not familiar with a number of these songs. The CD includes 22 and among my personal favorites are the slower ballads, esp. "Dear Artist" which drew me to this CD and "Monday, Tuesday". While melancholy, Dear Artist provides hope through and uplifting message certainly lifting my spirits during troubled times. The lyrics contained in many songs are most profound accompanied by a wide variety of splendid instrumental ranges.Other catchy snappy songs like "January", "Just a Smile", and "Girl Next Door" focus on relationships seeming to be more simple and innocent during the 70s era. High on life comes to mind as a common theme.Love the lyrics, instruments, and the iconic claps within these feel-good songs. What a fantastic collection of high quality sound. Truly appreciate this musical anthology!

近年購入したＣＤの中で3本の指に入るすばらしいベストアルバムです。音質も申し分なく、その当時のオリジナルの原曲のまま収録されてます。一曲当たり３分～４分ぐらいの曲が多いので曲数も２２曲と多めで聴きごたえがあります。収録時間は77：34です。
お馴染みの懐メロ
無難な選曲過ぎて、やや散漫な気がする。1枚組で濃縮したほうが良かったのではないか？ 入門編としては良。
