This is my second Workmate. The first lasted 20++ years which says a lot about its quality. I like its sturdiness with the spread legs when sawing timber. Its ability to clamp items vertically between its jaws for planing. Its solid worktop to which you can hold items with clamps. Minor niggles. The rubber feet come off too easily - cured with some silicone sealant. There are two sharp steel projections at the back - I put some insulating tape on them. Otherwise great product.

Ok putting this thing together should have taken a few minutes, but after looking at the instruction for 5 minutes I just threw them away and watched a youtube video. The instructions have no bearing on assembling the workmate and may as well be written in Ancient Greek for all the use they were. Sort it out black and decker.As for the item itself it is nice and sturdy. Although the handles seem very wobbly and loose compared to my old workmate. Just another example of using cheaper materials/ fixings I suppose that we`ve come to expect in modern day life.I did have one issue when it was assembled, the plastic strip that runs from one handle to the other (to help with tightening both handles when only one is being turned) was all twisted and not connected underneath. So had to fiddle about with that to get it all lines up and reconnected. Not the end of the world but 5 minutes of fiddling about with a new item which I shouldn't have needed to do.

A wonderful work bench. The only downside was preparing it for use. The handles were impossible to attach and I had to resort to using wire! The instructions were aweful. But it still is a great item.

Awesome piece of kit, necessary for and work on the house, and this one having the larger work surface and angle adjustable top plate, that is very handy. It’s sturdy just like all black & Decker Workmates. Wouldn’t be without one.The only downside are the build instructions, they are awful. Honestly who was responsible for such rubbish.. they need a word with themselves. To create knock those build seps together and leave work thinking they’ve just done a brilliant job… the mind boggles, and worse no one at black and decker noticed how bad they were.But, luckily there are some very handy YouTube videos available from people that have assembled this model and you’ll have it assembled in minutes. Apart from that, it’s an essential piece of kit.Just so you know though. Compacted or setup, it is noticeably bigger than the standard workmate.

I already own two 'original' workmates from decades ago. They have served me well, but they are showing their age. So I bought this 'top of the range' model as a 'treat'. I wish I hadn't.The main problem is that the working surfaces are not firmly fixed even though the steel frame is good and solid (and unchanged from the original design). The extra features have clearly been designed by people who have not properly understood how these benches are used.1) the front surface can be turned up to clamp vertically. This is great but the mechanism is poorly designed with far too much slack. Production costs would have been no higher if the slots and lugs had been proply matched so this is down to poor design not cost saving.2) the rear surface can be placed in a choice of three positions. This would be great, except that the fixing is now so sloppy you can no longer treat it as a workbench for clamping your job too; if you gently knock it it comes out.3) the rear surface is larger. This would be great except it still has the original short support pieces, so the back half projects out 'on a limb' so it is not a surface you can use for much: all that holds it in place are some tiny plastic wings; one whack of a mallet would probably snap them off.Finally, as many have pointed out, the instructions have a page missing and six parts are not mentioned in the parts list.Probably I will use this dissappointing object for 'spares' to replace lost or worn out parts on my original workmates.

The workmate 825 is just fantastic and it was for a great price also - great value for money - easy to put together and very very strong and my last one i had must have been 40 years plus old and i think was the first time they were made for sale - so if this one lasts as long as my first ( which is still ok ) but i wanted the new one with two clamping points and as i say if it lasts as long as my forst one i shall be one happy person , thye are a must if you are a handyman of any discription - I LOVE IT .

The media could not be loaded. These used to be brilliant, had one for years but decided to renew recently. I'm so disappointed with Black & Decker. First of all the assembly instructions are appauling, very uninformative, very small and badly illustrated and with no real indication of assembly order or location of specific parts. So I got them the wrong way round first of all! Once fixed the connecting belt, which is cheap plastic came off it's sprockets and was very rough. This plastic belt connects the two handles. I seriously question how long this is going to last in the workplace? Winding the two jaws together the closest of the wooden jaws lifts up and down because the mechanism is too loose. This is very irritating. Once the two wooden jaws meet they are not on the same level? Poor workmanship or what? I deliberately purchased the higher spec model hoping for a robust, well designed tool that will serve me well but I am very disappointed with this product. Time to look at yourselves Black and Decker and have a bit more pride in what you're churning out!

Da ich relativ hohe Ansprüche habe, sind volle fünf Punkte für mich eher ein Novum. Doch diese Werkbank ist zu diesem Preis wirklich unschlagbar! Ich hatte mir vorher in Baumärkten diverse andere Produkte angeschaut, sowohl anderer Hersteller, als auch des gleichen, und keine konnte auch nur ansatzweise mit der Workmate WM825 mithalten. Die Werkbank ist enorm stabil, leicht zu bedienen und sehr hochwertig verarbeitet. Die zweistufige Arbeitshöhe ist ebenfalls top, auch wenn die niedrigere Höhe für meinen Geschmack und meine Größe (1,8m) etwas zu niedrig geraten ist. Aber dennoch schön, dass auch kleinere Menschen bedacht wurden.Absolut genial und einzigartig ist die Möglichkeit eine Seite des Tisches um 90° zu kippen, wobei das Werkstück immer noch bombenfest gehalten wird. Da hatte ich zuvor etwas Bedenken. Lediglich die Kanten sind noch etwas zu scharf und könnten hier und dort noch etwas besser abgerundet sein.Die Lieferung erfolgte in Rekordgeschwindigkeit und dauerte von der Bestellung bis zur Lieferung nur einen Tag. Allerdings wurde auf "normales" Füllmaterial beim versenden verzichtet und der riesige Karton (die Werkbank wurde komplett montiert geliefert) mit alten Verpackungen, also Müll gefüllt. Einerseits eine tolle Idee zur Müllvermeidung, andererseits eine unverschämte Art seinen Hausmüll bei den Kunden abzuladen. Die Wertung darüber überlasse ich jedem selbst, weshalb ich dafür keinen Punkt abziehe!

Great product, does what it needs to, handful of small issues though

Overall this is a super product, especially for the price. Folds up nicely, versatile clamping options, perfect for my limited work space.I'll highlight three issues:1. The manual is the most useless manual I've seen in my life. It does not cover all its features and does not show you how to put it together fully. Find a good YouTube video.2. They describe it as having an 'advanced' feature for having the two vise handles operate together or independently. In practice you have to disconnect a plastic belt from two sprockets on either side, which is difficult as it is under tension as soon as one sprocket is on. It works but it's janky and not 'advanced'.3. Attaching the vise handles involves banging in two metal pins with a hammer. It takes a lot of force and strikes to get them in, not well designed.I will be keeping it and using it. It does what it needs to and I do recommend it, but must highlight those 3 issues so potential buyers are aware of them.
