Feels heavier. Which is good. Not sure why other reviews say it isn't sharp? Mines arrived factory sharpened. And all i had to do was a light grind to remove a slight rough edge. This could easily split medium sized logs with ease. V happy with purchase. And would highly recommend to others.

This is an average length hatchet for chopping firewood, or possibly dismembering a piece of furniture you no longer want to own and can't eBay. It's great for chopping wood that wants to be chopped -- dry firewood, thinnish builder's timber, miscellaneous stuff. It's not heavy enough to smash through thick timber, recently cut logs and the like.It comes with a useful keeper for the edge, which will help to cut down how often you have to sharpen it. The fibreglass handle feels good in the hand, and seems substantially stronger than the old wooden kind which always (eventually) broke, and it won't weaken through exposure to the damp conditions of woodsheds.That's it really. If you seriously intend to split a lot of large logs, then you would probably be better investing in a full-sized axe. Otherwise, this is great.

Arrived blunt - expected - sharpened easily on my wet wheel slow grinder. If you do not have a grinder, you will have problems getting and edge. Handle feels sturdy and very grippy. All in all, a good little chopper.

Bought this for the other half as he was looking for something to chop relatively small pieces of wood for our Chiminea. He was pretty chuffed.

Hammer is not flat, angled on one side,bit danger to use. Holder to slim for someone with bigger hand.
