5.0 out of 5 stars **FANTASTIC** Farberware Classic Stainless Steel cookware set

    F. · 24 August 2018

I originally purchased 2 used Farberware classic saucepans off a FB selling site which had been less than well maintained and both were in considerably poor condition. Not deterred, I scrupulously cleaned them to almost original new condition and fell in love with the shape of the pans, cute handles and quirky lids.As these appear to only be available in the US and being based in the UK, I took the plunge and paid the high customs and shipping fees and bought the 15 pc set (which equated to almost as much as the saucepan set itself!). I could not be more delighted, especially as they arrived a week earlier than anticipated by Bolo. The pans are absolutely gorgeous - a truly classic and quirky style that will last for years and years to come with the added bonus of looking fabulous on display. The original two I bought (as mentioned above) were in poor condition, but with some elbow grease they really did return to almost new condition so I have no doubt that any marks or discolouration on the new set can easily be rectified with the correct products (I swear by Bar Keepers Friend and Wrights (an American product) silverware and copperware cleaners (cheap as chips over in the US and if you buy 6-10 pcs, it is worth the shipping costs) as well as good ol' Brillo pads!Highly recommend both this pan set and Bolo for a super fast shipment with constant transit updates available on their website

The full set were okay but I will not recommend if you prefer a sturdy handle, mine broke after 3months seems like it is defective

    Great Set

    E.T.o.O.R. · 25 January 2015

I've owned this since the middle of 2012...let me just say I waited so long to write a review because I always check reviews before purchasing and I always wish to find that one person who has had something for more than a couple of weeks and still wishes to give it a good review. Also...lazy...I actually thought "I should do a review after having it 6 months to a year" and it's been close to three years.I've owned it for about 2.5 years....no regrets. I love the pots, they are my favorite part of it and what gets used the most. Sure they have gotten some discoloration from cooking...part of life, sorry folks. They clean easily even if you accidentally burn something in them, I know from experience. They have some of that rainbow discoloration from water. Not horribly though. That's mainly the inside, the outside basically looks like perfect stainless steel. There are some hard water circles/deposits. That's just part of life where I live. There are ways to remove it, so no huge concerns there.Now...my pots are well cared for. They do not stay dirty long after use. I scrub them with a sponge. I have never once attacked them with stainless steel wool or anything more rough than a sponge for cleaning, nor have I felt the need to. I assume that wouldn't cause you any issues with it, but no guarantees, as I have not tried it.Onwards - the skillets. At this time, 2.5 years of ownership down the road, I look at the skillets and feel they need to be replaced. The teflon(sp?) coating is starting to chip off. I recently bought some stainless steel skillets so I don't have to worry about teflon coating chipping off into my food. Don't get me wrong, these non-stick pans worked absolutely wonderfully for quite some time. But age has it's way with things and these two little guys have seen a lot of use. I now use the non-stick pans as little as possible due to the teflon chipping off, mainly for eggs, which I will probably eventually/soon replace them with new non-stick pans that I need not have concerns on chipping teflon for some time with.I love the little bowls with lids. Love them. I use them fairly regularly. My only complaint was that they do not have larger sizes. They have these three, and then I have two more that are progressively larger. I use the little one for dips, cheese balls, the like. I use the middle sized one the least. I use the bigger one for storing washed fruit, typically grapes or something similar...I have made a big batch of guacamole and put it in the bigger bowl with the lid, works great...I have never tested these plastic lids with something hot inside of the bowl. These aren't items I use daily, but I do use them regularly and love them.Lastly...the baking sheet/pan. The pan is truly non-stick. I remember early on after purchasing it I made super cheesy enchiladas in two pans. They got stuck in the other pan, and slid right out of this one. It is still nicely non-stick with few exceptions. It has some scratches along the edges due to unnamed persons using a fork to do things like get slices of cake out of the pan. And there is one mar in the very center of the pan where someone used a knife to slice something (I believe cake) in the pan and cut the coating of the pan. I watch this closely for signs of rust as I will feel the need to discard the pan should this occur. But other than some mishandling by various individuals, the baking pan has been great. The baking sheet...ehhhh...it's okay. It is my least favorite piece of the set. It pops when it gets hot in the oven. At least mine does. Like...you put it in as a flat baking sheet, and as it starts heating it pops and one end kind of twists slightly, leaving the pan no longer flat. I've actually had it pop/bend so hard/suddenly that it's done some food tossing...not all over my oven or anything, but definitely misplaced it from where it had been put. Also, in cleaning this, if you do not use a paper towel or something to dry the end of the handle (underneath where it's bent over/curled over to make a smooth handle to grab...it rusts. The water gets trapped in the little space and it rusts. I still use this piece, but I'm very ehh about it. Mine is very discolored/not very pretty anymore. Something got burnt on it and the elbow grease to scrub it off left the surface marred and removed some of the non-stick coating.

    Truly Classic

They’re called classic for a reason. I bought this set when my son moved out of the house and just “had” to have the set I received as a wedding gift in 1986. The heat distribution is even and they are very easy to clean. I’d buy them again but they are such a great product, I won’t have to pots again’

Excellent quality for this old school set; great value for the price

I picked up this set because I wanted durable, stainless cookware. We had these in our house growing up way back in the day and my mom still has the same pots from that set. We're talking 30+ years old and they work as good as new: no warping even though they've been burned multiple times over. The pots are all pretty heavy gauge stainless and I expect that this new set that I just bought will last just as long. Do invest in some stainless scouring pads though - not Brillo or Scotch-Brite - I'm talking the heavy-duty ones that they use in restaurants. I'm convinced that these are the best pots for the buck in a set. Now, for some very minor cons. The first isn't really a con at all, but more describes my love-hate relationship with non-stick pans. This set comes with two: one 7" and one 9", both with non-stick coating. The quality of the pans is also high, in general, but the non-stick coating is just okay. You can expect higher quality coatings from higher end brands. Inevitably, the coating will start coming off regardless of how careful I am, so I can expect these to have a much shorter lifespan than the pots in the set. Also, plan on investing in a larger pan to complement this set. The 9" pan barely accommodates 2 eggs and it's a tough squeeze to get in all the ingredients when I cook stir-fry for just me and my girlfriend. Still, this is a fantastic set and deserves 5*.
