Difficult to obtain via local outlets so managed to get C.D on Bolo. Glad I did. Put it on loud (my neighbour loves it also) and settled back to hear some of the best arrangements and playing of classic rock/blues tunes. Never heard of them? Buy it and see what you think.If you do not like it then you must be almost dead!

This is an album I used to have on vinyl and hadn't heard it for years. This CD comes with additional tracks of both sides of subsequent singles. I have really enjoyed listening to it again. Like meeting again a friend you haven't seen for some years and remembering how much you enjoy their company.

Before I begin, no-one has mentioned yet what CCS stood for - for those who like to know this kind of thing, it was the Collective Consciousness Society. I think the title had a lot to do with Alexis Korner's sense of humour and love of the planet in general [probably]. Anyway, to the music - while I was instantly attracted to CCS by the 'big band' sound and this fantastic ELO-like idea of mixing rock with a kind of jazz in a way that nobody has every tried to emulate, it was the acoustic stuff on this album that really blew me away. I used to mime in front of the mirror to 'This Is My Life' and I adore it today - it is one of my favourite tunes of all time, honestly. These songs perfectly complemented the louder sounds that Korner used to do lead vocals on and they helped make the album more complete. But even these soft acoustic numbers would burst into life with a huge blare of trumpets. Fantastic, totally unique and a delight to have on CD at last. I remember a Led Zep fan who was a friend of mine hated the CCS Whole Lotta Love and Black Dog [I'm not 100% struck on Black Dog myself] and couldn't understand what I saw in CCS, half suggesting that they were almost like listening to James Last! Philistine!! :-)

Almost 30 years after originally recorded,We are again greeted with a further compilation of the brilliant works of Thorup,Korner & Cameron who with approx 19 other top British session musicians made up CCS.I loved this 2nd volume which perfectly compliments the previous Compact disc release with further hits included such as Brother,You may remember this tune was also used to countdown the UK top thirty by BBC Radio one.Also another Zeppelin cover , a gritty guitar version of Black Dog and a new version of Whole lotta love ingeniously mixed into a rock n roll compilation of Lucille ,Long tall sally and Schoolday.Can we ever get it back an early ecological based song is also included .Buy this now or as once sung in the seventies ,you don't know what you,ve got until it's gone.It's a shame they are no more, My vote is for more BBS (Big Band Sounds from CCS).

Check out the crowning masterpiece, "Dos Cantos," and thrill to the bluesy spaciousness of "Sunrise." And much more.
